Where would I find a good cottages in Brackley Beach not far from Charlottetown, PEI. Someone suggested Centennial Cottages PEI. Does any one know anything about these cottages?

Two years ago we stayed in a private cottage on McMillan Point. ( $850 per week - owners name was Norm MacDonald ) . McMillan Point is just east of the Brackley Beach Village and just south of the National Park bridge ( ie. on the other side of the bay ).. It is a 20 minute leasurely drive to Charlottown . This central location is an advantage . We had to book 11 months in advance.
There is a lot of competition for cottages in this area.

It appears these cottages are near a drive-in theater and are close to the Dunes Art Gallery and Restaurant.

Many of the cottages in the Brackley Beach have specials during the off-season with many offering two nights for $99. One would need to check with each owner to find the limitation of their specials. have discovered that going to the local pei government page should list the cottage owners in the Brackley Beach area.

There are many cottages in Brackley Beach. The best rates they give are in the off season.
Travel Tips for Charlottetown
Local lingo and fun stuff
by fairy_dust
On PEI in general, there are a lot of fun slang terms that you might hear the locals use. Here are a few:
From Away: a person who was born outside of PEI.
Islander: a person who was born on PEI.
Slippy: Slippery.
Sociable!: the Martime way of saying "Cheers!" when drinking.
Stormstayed: Snowed in.
The Avenue: University Avenue in Charlottetown.
If you ever hear about Boomer, that's the weatherman of our local tv station. He's got quite the personality and the locals usually either love him or hate him. But either way, the evening news would never be the same without him!
There is also a lot of folklore on PEI. Most of the locals know at least one ghost story that has to do with a location in Charlottetown, or other places on the Island. Ghost ships, haunted underground tunnels (used by rum runners in the past), Dead Man's Pond (a man who drowned in the pond - supposedly his reflection can be seen on the pond on a full moon. I've also heard that the pond has no bottom...), the university buildings (the ghost of Dalton Hall - a student who froze to death in the 1930s. I know at least one person who insists she saw the ghost), and lots more.
A nice coffee house
by fairy_dust about Timothy's World Coffee
Timothy's is a small coffee house in downtown Charlottetown, and fair trade coffee is available there. Some of the coffees are expensive, but fair trade coffee is better quality than non-fair-trade coffee. They also have snacks and small food items such as muffins, cinnamon rolls, sandwiches, etc. It's a nice place to go to for a cup of coffee or a quick lunch. For food, I like the smoked salmon bagel. I also like the cinnamon buns and the rise and shine bagel.
For coffee, I either get a plain cup of coffee, or sometimes a cappuccino or latte (usually $3-$5 depending on size).
A Wintery Weekend Road Trip to Charlottetown
by canuckmike
I was in New Brunswick for about a week and a half for a course and had the weekend off. Never having been to Prince Edward Island my buddy and I rented a car a drove there on friday night. Charlottetown does not feel like a capital city of a province. It is quite small and everything closes down on Sunday. Obviously I was not there during prime tourist season but I still quite enjoyed myself.
