Marco Polo Land: Huge campground in Cavendish
With over 500 camping sites, Marco Polo Land is one of the Island's biggest campgrounds. It is close to all the major attractions in Cavendish and it's got all the facilities and amenities you need: water, electricity, bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, swimming pools, a snack bar and a video arcade. The only problem with a place so big is security - it was one of the noisiest campgrounds I've ever been to, with people screaming and playing loud music at 2:00 am. So even though we enjoyed our camping spot, I don't think we would go back there...

Beach House Inn: On the beach
The Beach House Inn is a large Cape Cottage with a few small cottages also on the property. Two are self contained and rent on a weekly basis and two are B&B units, which is what we rented. Open between May and October, the inn is around the corner from a golf course, by coastal beaches, Cavendish where the Anne of Green Gables attractions live, the town of Summerside and beautiful, peaceful rural and seacoast routes.
Views over the bay are spectacular, Inn is in a lovely quiet spot yet close to everything. Small lighthouse down by the water, short walk away. Tv in the cottage is only there for videos which you can borrow from the main house.

Here is the hotline number I used to find accommodations on PEI. The toll free number works only from within Canada.
I didn't call until about 4pm during the peak season, and they gave me plenty of options..... I then called the Stratford B&B directly....

Le Petit France: Un Petit France
Simple and small this B & B owned by a Frnch couple is a very pleasant place to stay. The 2 rooms they have are modest and comfortable.
Great, great breakfasts. It's also a stone's throw from the Confederation Trail.

Home Place B & B: More than just a bed
A small, clean and simple place to stay.
What makes this place so special is that not only can you get a good nights sleep but you can also have dinner there. The Home Place has a terrific restaurant. If you're tired of fish and chips and would rather go for gourmet cooking with lots of local produce then this is your place.

The Stratford B&B
I stayed at the home of Jeana & Mark, who run a small, informal B&B out of their family house....
A great little house, in a residental community just across the river from Charlottetown.

Carleton Motel and Coffee Shop: Not a bad place to stay
Right over the Confederation bridge, just a few minutes drive from the bridge shopping area. We liked the fact that we could take our (big) dog with us. The price was very reasonable. Kitchenette, but at first the stove wouldn't work. They offered to move us to another room, but we liked the one we were in. It turns out (as my husband rightly guessed) that I think there had been a power outage, and a breaker had snapped, but when the owner arrived, he took care of it. My one complaint was that due to its proximity to the bridge, there was alot of truck traffic, who all seemed to use their air (jake) brakes as there was a hill, so the niose from traffic was annoying. Overall, nice place for those on a tight budget.
Very close to bridge, pets allowed, restaurant.

Econo Lodge PEI: Good Value
This was a good value motel. The rooms were clean and it is only about 4km from the waterfront. They had fruit cereal and bagels at the Continental Breakfast. There is an outdoor pool. We’d stay again .

Sundance Cottages: Cottages, Cavendish, PEI
We shared a 3 bedroom cottage with two other couples. The cottage was wonderful, very clean, had two full baths. It was equipped with everything you could need. Staff would wait until you left everyday and would come in and clean and change towels. We had a view from our deck of the ocean, which you could walk down a path to. A very relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. We hope to go back.
There is a nice outdoor heated pool and hot tub. Bicycles are right there to borrow and go for a ride along the ocean. Each cottage has its own barbecue, picnic table, and chairs on a deck. You are just on the edge of Cavendish, so you are close to everything. When you check in at your cottage you are given a free park pass for all the parks, which we used a lot.

Cavendish KOA Campground: A campground with a very helpful owner
I stayed at this campground, which is the exact neighbour of Anne of Green Gables, for one night and very much enjoyed my stay. Not only was the owner one of the friendliest and most helpful campground owners I've met, but the facilities were also close to perfect. There was a well-equipped shop, clean and heated (!) bathroom facilities and a laundry that actually worked. Moreover, the campground offers several playgrounds for children. All in all, a good experience.
as mentioned above: friendly owner, clean facilities
