A fabulous Week's Holiday

Our 7 day stay at this resort was excellent, the accommodation was far better than we expected, our one bedroom fully self contained unit had recently been renovated, the kitchen and bathroom had marble benchtops, fully equiped kitchen, a nice lounge with open fire which we did not use as there was airconditioning.

Resort facilities included tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and other facilities. There is a very good restaurant as well as a combined snack bar and small grocery store. Self service laundry facilities are provide in the main building. There are other facilities available but slip my memory as we did not use them.

An excellent inclusion is the daily activity program organised for adults and children. This included a daily excursion in the resort bus to local sights around Banff, generally including a guided walk around a lake or bush track. No need for a vehicle as the resort bus runs to the town centre on the hour from morning to approximately 9pm.

Our 7 day holiday was a Time Share exchange , however the resort has apartments available for everyone. I do not know the room rate.

Unique Quality: The location of the resort just inside the Banff National Park gave us a magnificent setting, the snow capped rugged mountain backdrop could be enjoyed as we walked around the resort or from our verandah.
The staff were excellent and should you need any information reception staff were very willing to help.

Inexpensive 3 star hotel in Banff Canada

The Banff Rocky Mountain Resort is at the base of picturesque Rundle and Cascade Mountains in Banff National Park, just a few miles from Banff downtown area. The resort has tennis courts and an indoor pool and a sauna. Pleasant inexpensive 3 star hotel in Banff Canada.

info & tips for August visit

by wandrlst

My husband, myself, & a couple we travel with often will be arriving on a Sat. in Aug. We will be staying at the Rocky Mountain resort (timeshare) and do not check-in 'till Sunday. We are wanting cheap accomodations for Sat. night between Calgary and Banff--any suggestions? By looking in this forum, are motel rooms or B&B's cheaper. We will share a room just to sleep. We will use Banff as our home base for day traveling, but will want to spend the night when we go to Jasper--any suggestions? Also any local car rentals in Calgary that are less than the majors?

Thanks for any responses and help--------can't wait for the Canadian Rockies!!!!!

If cheap is pretty important, you may find that it is cheaper to stay in Calgary for the night, rather than going west between there and Banff for accommodations. The distance is roughly an hour's drive.
As for car rentals, there are a few independants, but I cannot comment on their rates or service. Best to book through an online search, as this will likely get you the most favourable rate.

Enjoy your trip!

i'd stay in calgary and enjoy the evening there. there is an econo lodge right on the west end of the city on the hwy to banff. sister stayed there and said it was clean and basic. i'd stay there so you can get up and just hit the highway.
actually if you decide on this and just want to stick to the area, go across the highway and go into valley view district. there is a decent restaurant just to the right as you enter and you could go down the hill for a walk by the golf course. often see many deer down there.

This is another vote for staying in Calgary. Stick to the chain motels. Did the same two years ago.

Best car site I've found is www.Enterprise.com

We are looking at B&B's. If you go into the B&B site www.bbcanada.com look for the ones with the seperate entrance and bathroom you can find a place for CAN$70-100 about a tenner each..

Have a good one
