More about Brewster's Mountain Lodge
Just Loved it

My wife and I stayed at Brewsters Mountain Lodge for six nights early Oct 2005. Banff is such a beautiful place and to stay in a hotel like this made our holiday exceptional. We had a room on the first floor facing bear street with a balcony with views of several snow capped mountains, the rooms are large and very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel decor is very unique which added to our pleasant stay. There is free coffee from 5.30am, internet access and the hotel is located right downtown close to many restaurants, car hire, post office, shops and convenience store. We stayed in twelve hotels on our trip all over the world and rate Brewsters way up there with the best. We have already decided to return to Banff and will be staying at Brewsters Mountain Lodge for sure. Travellers Tip, a must see is Johnson Canyon on Bow Valley Parkway, absolutely stunning.
Great Location, good hotel

Just got back from 2 weeks at the Brewsters Mountain Lodge. Excellent location to the town center, basically 100 meters down the road to Banff Avenue where everything can be found from Internet cafes to great restaurants. Talking about restaurants let me suggest "Saltlik" on Bear Street, FANTASTIC steaks, best I have ever eaten and I have had steaks all around the world. Back to the hotel, comfortable rooms, nice double beds, large TV,shower/bath combo, complimentary toiletries, nice views out of the room. Close location to the Ski Bus which takes you to Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise, the ski bus does not pick you up from Brewsters but from Mount Royal Hotel, or Banff Park lodge which are both 5 mins walk from Brewsters. Brewsters have complimentary ski / snowboard lockers, free tea & coffee in the mornings, $2 for 15 mins internet access. Christmas eve, the brewster family gave a talk on the brewster familt with free cheese and wine which was a nice touch. Would definately stay here again. Didnt ski norquay but Sunshine was EXCELLENT and 15 mins bust from Banff, Lake Louise is about 40 mins away and also good but sunshine is closer and just as good.
Nice Hotel, Great Location, Less then great staff
by TripAdvisor Member Chicago_Jones
The hotel itself is pretty nice. It is new and the rooms are unique and homey with lots of pine everywhere. The layout of the hotel is a bit awkward, but manageable. The location is fantastic right in the heart of downtown Banff. While nice, it can also be a little noisy if you are facing the street, if you want quiet ask for a courtyard room.
The main issue my wife and I had was with the staff (or lack there of it). This hotel is sparsely popualted with staff. There is usually at best one of two people at the front desk and while freindly they are less then informed. Meaning, do your own homework before you arrive, or head to the visitors bureau just down the street.
Other then that enjoy!
Great town, nice hotel!

Spent 4 nights in Banff and wished we could have stayed longer.
The Brewster is very well situated, right in the centre of town, the main street is literally 50 yards away! Because it's in the town centre, I thought it might be noisy but it really was'nt at all.
The rooms are excellent, huge bed, huge bathroom, our room had a jacuzzi too plus a balcony. We loved it. The entire hotel was very clean. The layout of the hotel takes some getting used to, I guess it may have been several separate buildings at one time. There is an underground parking lot with elevators to all floors.
The Brewster doesn't have a restaurant, but there are so many great places to eat out, it doesn't need one. The staff of the hotel were very helpful.
Banff is a lovely town, superb shopping, excellent facilities, very scenic. If it wasn't so cold in the winter, I'd love to live there.
We could have easily stayed for a whole week and still found different things to do every single day. I think we'll be back!
Excellent Value - great location

This hotel is in a great location right in the centre of Banff.
Staff were very helpful and our loft suite was excellent, looking out onto Bear Street with the mountains in the background.
Nearby restaurants were excellent and if you're into Yorkshire Puddings I'd recommend the Olde Irish Pub round the block called St James' Gate - they do baby Yorkshire Puddings stuffed with thin slices of beef and horseradish - best I've ever tasted!
The hotel has an underground car park (narrow entrance) which is very handy if you just want to stay in town and provides complimentary coffee/tea in the morning.
Save Your Money - There are Much Better Places in Banff

We booked one night at Brewsters during the Banff film festival. When we got into our room and lay on the beds, the first problem was moldy smelling bedspreads. I woke up the next morning with a plugged up nose and sore throat.
When we checked in late on a Thursday night, the staff member was fairly polite and asked if we needed parking. He then told us how to get into the parking garage and handed us our bill that had already been charged to our credit card.
As others have said, if you want a good night's sleep do NOT stay in this hotel. Partiers on the street, plus the voices from the lobby make for an experience that isn't private OR pleasant.
We met the rude and unhelpful staff the next morning when we tried to check out and they informed us that they needed an additional five dollars from us for parking. We asked why we had not been informed of this the night before when we asked for the parking - at which time we were shown the small print and informed that we should always read a legal document before signing it. I replied that while that was true, it had been late at night, and that I was not accustomed to hotels using small print to "trick" their customers.
When we asked if we could speak to a manager, we were informed that there was nobody available, but the young-ish woman who told us this said that she was the one who we should talk to. She again scolded us not not having read the fine-print on the contract we had signed, and insisted that we pay her five dollars for parking.
The stay was unpleasant, rooms a disappointment, noisy and hard to sleep, and staff that are willing to lose customers over a five dollar parking stall. Save your money, you would be much better staying in a place that actually cares about your business.
Great room and fantastic scenery

We stayed at Brewsters for a few nights during our honeymoon. We initially had a court yard room booked but we were up graded to one of the best rooms in the hotel with a very high ceiling and great mountain views. The room had its own jacuzzi bath in the bedroom as well as a separate bathroom.
We went mountain biking hiring bikes at good rates from a shop across the road. Make sure you take Mosquito spray as I got eaten alive!
Great scenery and a lovely stay!

travel lodge inside a shopping centre
by A TripAdvisor Member
Ww had high hopes for this hotel as we had looked at all the brochures and the gazeteer. We thought that we were in a 4*hotel but in fact were in a travel lodge inside a shopping centre. Don't be fooled the ski bus stops around the corner and the lobby which seats 8 is all the facilities. There is no bar, restaurant and if you are on the third floor only a lift and no stairs to get there. The Caribou lodge is a proper hotel but don't be fooled by the four stars in the brochure for the Brewster. We stayed at the Banff Springs for one night and the difference is price is minimal and a proper hotel!! The snow at Sunshine is fantastic but if you are going to Banff do not book Brewsters.
