weekly rental in Calgary

by Ashi74

Hi, We are coming to Calgary for the last week of May with our two kids and I was wondering if anyone knows of a reasonably priced weekly rental property or a not so expensive hotel in Calgary. Thanks.

Travel Tips for Calgary

make a trip to Banff National...

by sherry_c

make a trip to Banff National Park and see Lake Louise. It's so beautiful! The air is fresh and the water is clear! It's a must see! Hiking around Lake Louise on the trail, and then up the mountain. We hiked for three hours, and then found a lovely little place, but I won't ruin the suprise and tell you what it was. It's was worth the walk, though!

Downstream from Downtown.

Access to the river paths. Too many memories to select just one.

Photo 1 with Prince's Island to the left and the city centre to the right, a quiet backwater of the Bow river, enjoyed by geese and ducks and the young children in the summer.

Photo 2 Has a lot of historical significance, Fort Calgary was built at the junction of the two rivers and manned by the North West Mounted Police, later to become the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Photo 3 is taken from the Baines bridge, at the west end of St Patrick's Island where the Zoo is located.

Photo 4 is a look at teh section of St Patrick's Island that houses the Zoo, the animals and buildings are on the right, with the pedestrain bridge just visible in the photo.

Photo 5 gives some idea of the buildings in the Zoo for the animals. Taken for the pathway system to the north of St Patrick's Island.

Calgary's Crest

by scottishvisitor

The Crest of Calgary was adopted in 1902 it shows the City's Motto "Onward" with the dates 1884 when Calgary became a town and 1894 when the town grew into a city. The Crest features the Canadian Maple leaf - the Leek of Wales - the Shamrock of Ireland - the Rose of England and the Thistle of Scotland a nice design of unification.

NHL HOCKEY

by mamasan69

If you like professional ice hockey, then I recommend going downtown and see the local Calgary Flames.
I happen to be a big fan of the flames and enjoy a night out, having a few drinks, something to eat and watching a good game of hockey. Depending on where you sit in the Saddledome, the prices are quite reasonable, even for the family($15-25each).
***UPDATE**** The Calgary Flames are currently playing the Detriot Red Wings in round one of this year playoffs. The first two games didn't go to good for the Flames, hopefully they can rebound in the next games at home.....GO FLAMES GO!!!! Everything from food to jerseys can be purchased in the concourse of the Saddledome.

Banff National Park

by Unknownsu

What’s there to say about Banff National Park that hasn’t been said before? The ultimate natural and remarkable environmental playground. The ideal sightseeing location for all nature enthusiasts. Banff offers unspoiled scenery from the Rocky Mountains and its foothills surrounding this wonder of Canada. Visit the town of Banff or ski and snowboard till your heart’s content at one of Banff’s many ski resorts. Take a gondola up the Sulfur Mountain to view the goats going on with their everyday life while taking in fresh Alberta air.
