Public transportation cross border

by Maranatha

Am I to assume from reading one of the other entries that there is not any public transportation connecting Amtrak service in northern Montana with destinations in Alberta, Canada? I had high hopes of taking the train from Maine to Montana and then connecting by bus or wagontrain??? to Canada...

Via Rail cancelled service to Calgary years ago. You'll probably have to take the bus.

As far as I know, the only connections between Amtrak and the Canadian rail system are in the east (Quebec-Ontario regions). You would have to bus between Montana (Great Falls or Helena I guess) and Calgary. Good luck!

Airporter Shuttle Express of Calgary does operate a "charter van" service from many destinations in East Glacier to Calgary. They list their service as well as other ways thru the following link:

Travel Tips for Calgary

Go to the Zoo. It takes all...

Go to the Zoo. It takes all day and you don't get kicked out when it closes. We stayed there for over 2 hours after it closed. It is also easy to get lost in there. I had a great time at the zoo. A Party where we invited the World

by penumbra

In 1988, Calgary put on a party and invited the world. For a couple of weeks in February1988, the winter Olympians competed and their victories were often celebrated at the Olympic Plaza . These days, it’s the future Olympians that make use of the plaza: young children use the flooded plaza as a wading pool in the summer and a skating rink in the winter.

Some architecture from the past

by scottishvisitor

Not every building reaches for the sky in Calgary it was delightful to see some older buildings still vie for your attention. One such building is the Bank of Nova Scotia situated at 125 8th. Avenue south west in Calgary's downtown district. This beautiful building was constructed in 1929 - 1930 - not old by European standards but old here amidst the equally stunning glass and steel skyscrapers. The architect involved with the design was John McIntosh Lyle of Toronto. The construction team were H.G. Macdonald and Company. I like the look of this older building which seemed to have a new one atop - but no it is behind

Bankers Hall Fitness/Squash Club...my other home

by cybercutie

This is the club I have worked part time at for over 2 years. It is a fitness club that specializes in squash, and even has a squash pro on site. However, most of the members don't even play sqhuash, and come for the fitness club and amenities it offers.

It is a higher priced fitness club located in Bankers Hall Downtown, and has a general area as well as an executive area with hot tubs, saunas and its own equipment (mens side and ladies side).

Its a great place if you want an upper scale health club, and if you say you know me, they will be extra helpful (either that or kick you out-I am known as the employee with theo loudest laugh and the most tasteless jokes...c'est la vie:)) The busiest time of day here is before 9 am or during the lunch hour, due to the fact it is in the downtown core. But due to the fact that there are a variety of machines and classes provided, it is never a long wait to get onto a piece of equipment. There is also a swimming pool and free towl service. Laundry service is provided on request as well.

Unfortuntaley, it is a private club, so unless you know a member or have guest passes, you are unable to just drop in.

Ghost Lake Reservoir

by Hanau93

Ghost Reservoir is a gorgeous lake located in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains. Located just 35 minutes from Calgary the Ghost is the perfect place for wind surfing, sailing and ice racing due to the almost constant wind that whips down the valley.
It's also great for fishing. We always stop at the lake onour way to Morley on Highway 1. The closest town to the lake is Cochrane..
