Drayton Valley lies in a gentle prairie valley near the banks of the North Saskatchewan River about 120 km upsream from Edmonton. Chief industry here is forest products, with a large OSB mill operated by Weyerhauser. Surrounding area is mostly farms and ranches with a good number of oil/gas wells dotting the landscape.
