I am the 30 year old daughter of a Former NHL Hockey player. Growing up in this life I have spent many nights in Hotels. So I have some experience. I took my mother, nephew and daughter to Drumheller this summer July 24th, 2010 weekend and we were pleasently surprised at the quality look of the hotel. It was when we went through the doors that we would be in for a shock. I am 7 months pregnant at the time and am not overly spoiled to understand that i have to bell cart my own luggage upstairs. Times have changed since i was young. We got our room took a rest before we were going to go out on the ghost tour that evening. On our way to the lobby I came off the elevator took a few steps and slipped after i ended up in a puddle on the slate floor. My ankle twisted and down I came pregnant belly and all (It was a hard fall). PAIN - there was a king lady who was staying there who assisted us and examined my foot since she was a paramedic on holiday. The staff did not take initiative to come check on me until about 15 minutes later when I was assisted to a couch and we were making the decision of how to get baby checked out. Their initial comment was "crocks are slippery shoes in our hotel" as if it was my shoes fault not theirs. The have a pool on the main level that has a halway that is extremely slippery with one sign and the puddles travel of course to the elevator (inside the elevator) and up to al the floors as people travel to their rooms after swimming. There are NO carpets on the ground or staff to see to drying the floors. I advised these 2 dimwitt staff members that i expected compensation for the ambulance i would have to take to hospital again they couldn't make a decision they said as their manager was not in and it was just the two of them so they dismissed themselves from us and continued on their work. They said for us to talk to their manager on the monday. So I found out BABY is OKAY and was put in air cast as i sprained my ankle to be able to semi finish the weekend in drumheller (i got to watch everyone have fun). Monday comes and we are checking out. We have to ask for the Manager (I would have expected the manager would have tracked us down immediatly) and she pretends she had no idea what happened till my mother reminds her that she was present when the front staff lady had called her to tell her that day it happened. Then the manager (Cindy) pretends she was told i slipped in the pool hall not off the elevator (like that makes a real difference) she takes our money and says she can't offer anything until she speaks to the district Manager. BS I never hear from her again. So 1/2 August I call ramada Head Office and made a formal complaint. They can't do anything except encourage a response from the licensee Cam (owner/operator) They send him a letter and cc Me. He never responds to me......... Then I call the Ramada Drumheller and the front desk people won't give me Cam. The next day i get an EMAIL from the manager Cindy saying she will give me a refund on my room. I now have incurred a $301 Ambulance bill and am still waiting for my cast bill and the room was in the $400's. I say thats okay but i want the ambulance bill covered too. Their response is the room refund is to cover the cost of the medical needs. HOW INSULTING! and they say all we can do on top of that is give you a free nights stay. YA RIGHT! as if I will EVER stay at a RAMADA INN again. (sorry to head office which was great)...... DRUMHELLER ROCKS but RAMADA SUCKS! Poor on you Cam Christianson to not follow up with me and have Cindy email me back. It just adds to the poor service your company is providing. I will continue to make my opinion known of Facebook at all sites I can. PS. I am a Business Development Manager for Honda 5 years and now Toyota and understand the logisitics to customer service.
Unique Quality: Unique qualities -
1)They can be fully sold out except their Honeymoon suite that weekend and only have 2 front staff on.
2)They have a lovely pool on the first level but allow water to pool up all down the hall and infont and on elevators with no staff to attend it and no carpets to prevent slipping
3)They can be the prettiest hotel in drumheller with no protocal in place to assist an accident in their halls
4) They can be sold out but are too cheap to offer reasonable customer service.
