I am wondering if there are any VT meetings in Edmonton?

Why not set one up. I'm sure you could get a nice attendance.

Hi, I'll most probably be in Edmonton second half of Juli to end of the first week of August. Actually it would be a great idea to do a meeting then. Favorite days would be weekdays as I will be gone over the weekends with friends of mine (living there) for hiking and exploring the region.
I don't know Edmonton, can you organize something?
Christian.

Travel Tips for Edmonton

Edmonton Tip

by glicko

Fighting my way across the High Level Bridge. This bridge is the most direct route from downtown to Strathcona (i.e. Whyte Ave) and Calgary Trail. It's lanes are rather narrow and it has all sorts of interesting (and confusing) curves. Great view (just don't take your eyes off the road). NOTE: the bridge is one-way (southbound). To go northbound you have to find your way into the valley and take the 'Low Level' bridge.

Packing List

by sopwro

Just your typical style luggage is recommended if your not planning on doing a lot of shopping there. Winter Apparel (Winter Coats, Sweaters, etc.) is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Winter Travel.

For Spring/Fall Travel, check ahead for latest whether conditions. Sometimes its quite cold in the spring and fall and you may even need your winter jacket!

For Summer, pack a light coat, the nights can get quite chilly. MONEY! $$$. You'll need lots of it if you plan to go shopping. Edmonton is a mall-lovers dream.

University of Alberta

by Shara.Buchan

A Capital University
Opened in 1908 as a board-governed, public institution, the University of Alberta has grown to be one of Canada’s foremost research-intensive universities, with external research funding in 2003–04 of more than $377 million. The University’s main campus is located in Edmonton, the vibrant, cosmopolitan capital of the province of Alberta. In a metropolitan area with close to one million people, Edmonton’s economic growth was ranked among the top Canadian cities in 2003. In partnership with industry and government, the University of Alberta plays a pivotal role in advancing the economic prosperity of Edmonton and Alberta.

The University of Alberta serves over 35,000 students in more than 200 undergraduate programs and 170 graduate programs. Students enjoy an exceptional quality of life on a friendly campus in the midst of a city that values research and technology as well as its beautiful river-valley parkland. The University’s pioneering spirit inspires faculty and students to advance knowledge through research, to seek innovation in teaching and learning and to find new ways to serve the people of Alberta and the world

THe U of A's Vision
“ …that in teaching, research and community service, the University of Alberta will be indisputably recognized, nationally and internationally, as one of Canada’s finest universities, and amongst a handful of the world’s best.”
Roderick D. Fraser, President

For the curio crowd...

by Rice_Paper about Sanctuary Curio Shoppe

I call it the "goth" store. HAHAHHA. It's a trip to see what they have in that place. For those who are curious, feel free to pop on it. Great for those "everyday Halloween" type occasions. HEHEHEHE Anything from skull candles, leather accessories, sculptures, anything black or for the "darker" crowd.

Wildwest Saloon
As some...

Wildwest Saloon
As some regulars will tell you, things can get crazy inside the Wildwest Saloon and for good reason. You get the straight goods here when it comes to country music and all-round western-style hospitality. Twang bands, onstage for five nights of the week, deliver everything from tear-in-your-beer classics to the latest from Garth, Shania, Clint, Reba and Vince (and if you have to ask their last names, bone up on your country music trivial quickly!).
