The biggest tourist...
by gottatravel
The biggest tourist attraction in Edmonton is definetly West Edmonton Mall... i think its the second largest mall in the world.. everything you could ever want is there..waterpark...HUGE.. its great and thats the first place i ever went bungy jumping...WOW!!! it was insane. There is also an amusement park there... that roller coaster is so much fun especially when they have the last car turned around backwards..thats a rush. There's even race cars...sooo fast... right in the middle of the mall there is an ice rink.. its beautiful and wide open, it's quite funny trying to drag my best friend there..she hates it..In the mall there is 2 movie theaters... one of them has a fire breathing dragon inside (kinda creepy)but cool.Resturants so many.. a huge casino... bars (lots of em)... everything and anything including a hotel attached... there is theme rooms inside (thats where we started our new years night a whole bunch of us) then carried on to the bars. The mall is suitable for everyone, families or couples and even just a group of people who wanna have a blast... as well one more thing shopping there is thee best..(and when i figure out how to work this scanner i'll show pictures) When i'm away from Edmonton i miss the mall.. West Edmonton Mall... because right outside of the coolest store that i used to work at there is dolphins... and they usually have a show almost every hour... and right below the dolphin tank is a cavern with penguins and a shark and almost anything u can imagine ( but don't worry their not all in the same tank)hehehe i was trying to be funny so please smile!!
Art is Everywhere in Edmonton!
by kymbanm
There are artistic bits all over Downtown Edmonton .... one of the first ones I notices was this fencing for a small corner park near my hotel. I thought it was unique and colorful myself. Apparently locals are mortified at the pricetag attached to this particular piece ... one that I will share with you when I can remember!

Elk Island National Park
by Tolik
Visit Elk Island National Park, an unspoiled wilderness of forests and likes which is a wildlife reserve. It is about an hour drive east of Edmonton on Route 16 (the Yellowhead Highway). Elk, wood bison, moose, and deer roam here, and hundreds of species of birds can seen. The park has hiking trails (from 2.5 to 18 km – 1.5 ti 11 miles), cross country skiing trails over rolling terrain, and a few lakes.
Good time dive bar
by Karlie85 about Strathcona Hotel a.k.a. The Strat
The Strat is by no means a fancy club or bar. In fact, it is a seedy bar inside an old hotel located on Whyte Avenue. This is not a bad thing! I enjoy the Strat much more than some of the trendier bars where the people seem to think they are at a fashion show instead of having a good time!
The age of people that go here range from 16 (fake ID's!) to 75! I have never been during the week, but on the weekends it is full of young people of all kinds-punks, artists, skaters, preppy...everyone is welcome!
The booze is exceptionally cheap. The beer is not drank to be enjoyed, it is drank to get you drunk. Pitchers are something ridiculous like $8 (cheap!), shots are $4.25 and highballs are $4.05.
There is always a good time to be had at the Strat :)
Do not come here if you are looking for a fancy, or even remotely nice, bar! I will be the first to admit it is a dive! But it is the people you are with, and the other people that are there, that make it really fun:) Anything goes!
