The latest bar to visit on Whyte Avenue is called Sapphire. It is a martini bar primarily, and caters to the young and lovely....those who want to see, and be seen.My friends and I crowded ourselves into a booth there last evening. They have a rather extensive list of martinis, served with flair.
I'm not really a martini fan, and find them a little speedy with their intoxicating effects.
For those who enjoy alternate pleasures, there is a good selection of beers and cocktails.
A wee bit pricey for the neighborhood, but the owners have modeled this bar after similar establishments in other cities. It actually looks like it was airlifted out of Singapore, or somwhere exotic and desireable.I can't imagine trying to get in without taking the time to groom properly. It is one of those places where you'll feel out of place really fast if you choose the "coveralls and diesel fuel" mode of attire.
I got in wearing jeans and a leather jacket, my friends were still dressed from their office jobs, and nobody was examined too closely for conformity.
