4 Fun nights at in the WaterPark Theme Room
by TripAdvisor Member Casserole
We stayed at the Fantasyland Hotel for 4 Nights in August 2005.
We chose the WaterPark theme room which is the only room overlooking the Wave Pool/Beach/Slides. The Jacuzzi tub is right there overlooking the park and what a great time we had with baths & watching the swimmers below.
Check in was quick and efficient. Elevators were s-l-o-w . Room service was very good we had prime rib and shrimp one night and a Pasta dishanother night. Very quick service and good food.
Included with our room was passes to either the Amusment Park or Water park for each day. We went to both and while we LOVED the water park we found the Amusement park kind of run down and dirty.
The bed was very comfortable in our WaterPark Themed room, the housekeeping service was excellent. We never saw them once, going out at about 10 am and when we arrived back the room was done with fresh soaps/towels/bubble bath etc...
So much to do at West Edmonton Mall - 4 days and we didn't come close. We will definately go again.
Won't be staying here again !!

We stay in Edmonton about 12-15 times a year both on business with Weyerhaeuser, and as a family. This is the first time we stayed at the Fantasyland Hotel. We stayed in an Executive Suite for 3 days. When we rolled down the covers on main bed the first evening, there was hair throughout it, on the sheets, and on the pillow cases. It was quite obvious that the sheets and pillow cases were not changed after the last occupant, but merely reused, so as to save time. We called the customer service, and they sent up people to make up the bed. Then after they left, we looked through the bunk beds where our boys were going to sleep, and there was hair throughout one of them as well. We called again, and they came and made up that bed as well. Sleeping in a bed with somebody else's hair throughout it may not bother some people, but it makes my skin crawl.
Then when we went to drain the hot-tub after using it the first time, sewage and feces backed up through the shower drain, filling up the shower stall and stinking up the whole room horribly. We called down again, and mentioned what was happening, and a maintenance man came up and plunged the hot-tub and shower to try to stop this from happening. Every single time we drained the hot-tub after using it, the same thing happened, with sewage backing up into the shower. We called down 3 separate times regarding this; the second time we phoned down, the girl said, and I quote, " you're not going to die from it". The third call was just as futile, with the response being that nothing more could be done about it. We decided just to put up with it, and chalk it up as a learning experience, and never to stay there again.
When checking out, we were asked how our stay was, and we mentioned some of the goings-on of the past three days. The comment from the front desk attendant was " well, there's nothing in our records about any of this", and left it at that.
It was truly one of the most un-enjoyable stays we have had in Edmonton.

There is a shuttle http://www.edmontontaxiservicegroup.com/skyshuttle/schedules.html
If your kids are 4-12 it would be $29 each way for you 3. A cab would be more but may be more efficient.
Don't forget, you are getting about $1.20-1.25 for your dollar.
Enjoy the Mall

For some taxi rates, check this out:
Coop Taxi rates - http://www.co-optaxi.com/OurServices/Calculator/airport_map.html
Yellow Cab - http://www.edmontonyellowcab.com/rate-sheet.php
Just drag the mouse over where you're going. Yellow Cab says it would be $59 maximum and has nice labels on the map. The Co-op map doesn't have that feature, but it looks like it would be around the same price.
I'm not sure I would want to wait 40 minutes for a shuttle to the hotel, but it just depends on what you're willing to spend. You have no reason to worry about taxis here.

Barrel Taxi, pretty much the same maximum rate - http://www.edmontontaxiservicegroup.com/contact/rate_sheet.html
