Things to do in Edmonton

by Desta

Hi there, my husband and I just moved to Edmonton and are wondering about some things. He plays slo-pitch and would like to join a team here. I would also like to join a mixed team. We are thinking beer league, he has about 5 years under his belt, up until now, I have been a spectator....
Also, besides going to the bar, what do moderately young people (25-35ish) do here during the winter?

Try a local bar/pub/restaurant. they will have some sponsored teams. Your places of work will also probably have one or two also. The banks, or treasury branch too

Travel Tips for Edmonton

Wha happenin'..... =)

If you want to know what's happening in E-Town during the time you're here, grab a free copy of See or Vue magazine. They are available on most street corners and they are the essential guides to what's happening in town (bands playing where, what shows are on, where the local clubs are located and what's the theme of the day).

The Muttart Conservatory

by Tolik

The Muttart Conservatory, a series of 4 glass pyramids, overlooking the North Saskatchewan River south of downtown. Three of its pyramids are glorified greenhouses, replicating tropical, temperate, and arid habitats. The fourth, a “Show Pavilion”, is reserved for special exhibitions.

Take a break at Sylvan Lake

by Jefie

Sylvan Lake is a pleasant resort town located about 1h30 south of Edmonton. It's a good place to go for camping (Jarvis Bay Provincial Park), swimming (Wild Rapids Waterslide Park) and just hanging out on a warm summer day.

Excellent Italian grocery store

by Karlie85 about Italian Centre Shop a.k.a. Spinelli's

The Italian Centre Shop is a grocery store/deli located in Little Italy. They are owned and operated by the Spinelli family, and have been in business at their central location for 50 years, and have just opened another store on the south side. All of the cashiers are very friendly, and a lot of them speak Italian as well as English. They have every Italian item under the sun that you could possibly want or need. They have a whole aisle of pasta. They have been voted the best deli in Edmonton numerous times. The deli has a seemingly endless assortment of meats, cheeses, and olives. They have excellent produce at a very reasonable price. Tons of Italian breads, beverages, deserts... you name it, they have it!

Red's at West Edmonton Mall...

by Rice_Paper

Red's at West Edmonton Mall (Picture on the side is my bowling score..WOO HOO!!! Cracked a hundred!!! hehehehe)
If you're tired of just the club scene, head here for pool, arcade, bowling, to grab a bite to eat, or dance. Note that the bowling lanes do get busy after 9 (think it was an hour and a half wait the last time I was there). Sometimes, there are local & international bands playing there. Casual wear is just fine. You can just relax here. Side note: if you get in before 9 pm, there's no cover charge (usually $5) unless you want to watch the band...the cost of that varies but basically, you can hear the band playing..just can't see them very well. hahahahaha
