If you type 'edmonton' into the serach box at the top of the page, you will find lots of tips from VTers - those which interest you, you can save to your own trip planner and then print them off as a 'book' to take them with you!
Happy travels.

It's a good time to be travelling to Canada from Australia...the aussie dollar is very strong at the moment and you get approx 97 cents Canadian for 1 aussie dollar.
As for weather, it will depend on when you plan to travel there. Edmonton has nice summers but gets very cold in winter.

Also visit here for info.....if you are only going for a short visit you will not need a visa.

Travel Tips for Edmonton
Come by the ICEFIELD PARKWAY:...
by Sharrie
Come by the ICEFIELD PARKWAY: Along the way you'll pass by Bow Lake, which freezes until mid-May (when we were there in early May {my first trip; I've since been there twice more, it's that captivating!}, we were able to walk on it & some even skate there!)
Most beautiful glacial lakes to be discovered & nice spots for picnic!
Tipping Tips in Restaurants, Coffee Shops, & Pubs
by Telse
You can tip anywhere from 5-20% of the total bill in restaurants, but 10% is the average, and 20% is for exceptional service, or if you're just feeling generous. Servers and bartenders will expect some sort of tip. But you won't get thrown out of the bar/restaurant or anything. Waiters and bartenders work for minimum wage but the tips are their true salary and depend upon it for rent, utilities, and food.
Tipping is generally not added on to the bill; however, some restaurants will add an automatic 15% gratuity tax if there's a large group for dinner.
For coffee shops, tipping is again not mandatory, but it's greatly appreciated by baristas if people donate some extra change; it doesn't need to be 10% of the cost. You'll likely get an extra smile or a thank you from them if you do.
Hockey

We went to Edmonton to check out the SJ Sharks play the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers play at the Rexall Place. Unfortunately, the Sharks lost that night; but we had a great time enjoying the atmosphere, and excitement of Canadian hockey.
Rexall Place also hosts the circus, concerts, and a variety of other sporting events. Check out the web for upcoming events.
As you drive around Golden,...

As you drive around Golden, you will see these BIGHORN SHEEP abundant throughout the Rockies. The large rams are best viewed in the winter months when they are at lower elevations; in summer, most of the rams and many of the ewes can be found by hiking into the high alpine meadows in the park. The tourists and road traffic does not seem to phase them as I was able to get so close to a herd of them and they did not even move. On the day we drove up here, we saw on one side of the road a herd of female sheeps while a herd of rams across the other side down a few kilometers, like it was girls nite and boys nite out, so cute!
Chic furnishings...
by Rice_Paper about Urban Barn
I think it's something along the line of Pottery Barn (US) but it's not as big (chain wise). Think it's based in Vancouver but you can find anything from bed sheets to that funky looking leopard print chair. Trinkets ranging from $2-$5 to some cool and comfy leather chair for $1500.
