Driving from Edmonton to Vancouver

by fiona23

I'm planning a trip and would like to know how long it should take to drive from Edmonton to Vancouver. What is the most efficient route that allows for some sightseeing? Where are the best places to stop?

If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,

Fiona

Hwy 1 stop in Blue River, Kamloops, then Hwy 5 to Kelowna and then Vancouver

hey I think it would be better to go yellowhead then down past the columbia icefields and then out highway one to kamloops and then down 2 pretty easy days just a guess 8 hours a day... or if you want to go through kelowna I think the hope princeton ighway is better than the coquihalla, just my opinion

wow. that was some pretty bad grammar. If you want the fastest way go down the yellowhead through blue river and then take the coquihalla, this is by far the fstest route. The route is about 12 hours.

Travel Tips for Edmonton

by Pammylain

Hi :) My favorite thing to do, considering I was only 14 yrs old was go to the mall. West Ed actually..It was great!!! We were there for 2 weeks at a family reunion so all the kids took off to Edmonton for lots of shopping! A warning though...you can get caught up in all the stores...we went 2 days and spent all day there and I still didn't hit all the stores or do all the things we could have done...like we didn't go to the amusement park or the movie theaters inside the mall and we had to miss out on a game of Laser Tag....but it would have been fun all the same right? There are lots of stores and lots of things to see and do. They even offer tours of a submarine (I think it was a submarine......it was a long time ago) All in all, the mall was the best part of the whole trip.

Edmonton is a large cutural center for many ethnic groups, about 10% of Edmonton's population is of Ukrainian origin.

This is the famous pysanka in Vegreville, just an hour's drive east of Edmonton.

Come visit ME!

This is my basement suite!
I live in a nice, older area of the city. Close to the River Valley, downtown, north end, south end, WEM.... YOU NAME IT! I'm about 15 minutes or closer from EVERYTHING!
So - if you're in town - drop me a line and maybe we may hook up!

30 minutes west of downtown Edmonton lies the Devonian Botanical Garden. Though it's nothing like Butchart's in Victoria, BC, it is quite a scene.

This 80 acres attraction houses thousands of plants and fungi, and even butterflies. Not to be missed if plants are your passion.

Location: Highway 60, south of Highway 16

The Ironhorse is a great place to hang out on the weekends or any other days of the week. During the summer, you should definitely hang out at their patio. The staff are friendly.
The staff! The waitresses and bartenders are always helpful in providing recommendations for yummy drinks. My fave is the pornstar (shooter). Some of my friends say it's a girly drink but it's so yummy. Casual wear is fine but if you wanna dress to impress, that's fine too.
