BED & BREAKFAST: AROUND ALBERTA

by balhannah

When we were looking for accommodation, I found the Bed & Breakfast site for Canada.

This is an excellent site that covers the whole of Canada.
All the listing's have been checked and approved.

On our road trip around British Columbia and Alberta, we stayed at B&B's booked through this site for the whole journey, and we never struck a bad one.
They were cheaper than other accommodation, we stayed in some of the most beautiful home's with fantastic view's, and best of all, we met some really lovely owner's who were as interested in us and where we came from, as we were of them.

It was our first time of B&Bing, and definately not our last after the wonderful time we had!

Best Western Port o Call Calgary: More Hotel and less Best Western

by amandajayne81

After some exploring at Drumheller we arrived late to Calgary and had a bit of trouble locating accommodation in the city centre. We decided on the Port o Call although unlike most Best Westerns it didn't have kitchen facilities OR a free breakfast. There were several eating options on site but not necessarily at the lower end of the price scale.

We had an awesome room on the 7th floor and the staff were exeptionally friendly and helpful and there were numerous facilities including free wifi. There were a few fast food restaurants in walking distance and a free shuttle to the airport. We walked (1-2km) to the train station to go to the Zoo but taxis to the city were about $20.

This would be an option if we returned to Calgary.

Green Acres Bed and Breakfast near Edmonton: 2 nights at a gorgeous Bed and Breakfast

by amandajayne81

A wonderfully honest and welcoming host in a location that is outside of town and extremely quiet yet close to the airport. Free wifi and our room had everything we needed including microwave and fridge, TV, pool table and more. Definitely recommended.

We did have well water which may be a consideration for some. The food is fabulous.

Best Western Jasper Inn: One Night only

by amandajayne81

We were travelling from Banff to Edmonton and stopped for the night in Jasper at the Best Western. It was another 2 storey room with a kitchen and balcony with an okay view. There were gardens and a restaurant on site but we bought food to prepare in our room. The distance to downtown could be walked but isn't overly close. Whilst this room was nothing flash it had everything we needed and if I was in Jasper I would consider staying here once more. Free wifi.

Douglas Fir Resort and Chalet: Banff - Douglas Fir Resort and Chalet

by amandajayne81

Very comfortable. This hotel is within about a 2 km walk of downtown Banff slight up toward Tunnel Mountain. We had a 2 story room with a full kitchen and a great view out on our balcony. The waterslide, shop, laundry, parking, etc means that anything a family, couple or single could need is provided. Free wifi also. I definitely recommend this accommodation and will stay here again if I visit Banff once more.

When we drove in for the first time there was a herd of Elk within metres of our car. That was exciting for 2 Aussies.

Radisson: Great views in Canmore!

by bkathryn

For my 5-night stay, all the hotel staff with whom I interacted provided great service. The food was very nice. I regret not getting into the exercise area, pool, or hot pool area.

Pretty easy walking distance to downtown Canmore.

Banff Boutique Inn (fka Pension Tannenhof): Banff Bed & Breakfast

by markincalifornia

Great small B & B. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Within a short walk to town, just above the river. Very nicely renovated. Would definitely recommend!

The Metterra: Modern Hotel located in Old Strathcona

by VF1D

Nice, clean hotel with modern aethestic. Located in Old Strathcona, central to many restaurants and pubs. Great for nightlife, though parking is a bit of hassle since it's all valet and takes 15-20 minutes to get your car. Definitely enjoy the later afternoon wine tasting - great starter to the evening!

Fox Inn and Suites: New Hotel in Banff - Summer 07

by CraigT

We had some trouble deciding on where to stay in Banff. We wanted something clean and relaxing and a decent price. We opted for the newly completed Fox Inn and Suites on the main drag coming in to Banff from the southeast. Just completed in June of 07, we still had some workman to maneuver around but it wasn't a problem. With everything brand new, we enjoyed the stay at the attractive stone facade structure. The unique hot tub area was not yet open but will be a popular spot for this hotel. The in house Chili's restaurant was a nice amenity and they served a delightful complementary continental breakfast. Prices are steep everywhere so if you're going to pay over $200 this is a nice place and an easy walk to town in the evening. While the rooms were quiet for the most part, request a room without an adjoining door if they are available. That was the only downside to the hotel in that the adjoining doors seemed paper thin. We would definitely stay here again.

Check out their unique hot tub/jacuzzi area. It is located on the basement level with an open ceiling to the sky above.

McDougall Lane: ... not the most welcoming

by vtveen

Although we had arranged to arrive rather early (to explore the badlands and hoodoos around Drumheller) the welcome was not very warm and it seemed if we were not expected at all.

Our (air-conditioned) room was spacious and had a good bed. We had a shared bathroom and it is no problem if you have to wait on the other guests. But if the same happened when we wanted our breakfast it is rather strange. It seemed if this B&B served only one breakfast at once; a little bit frustrating if you have to travel a lot that day.

The B&B is located very close (walkable distance) to the city centre and restaurants in a very quiet neighbourhood

The most charming part of this B& b are the beautiful and flowering gardens with fountains and ponds. A perfect place to relax in the Canadian sun and to read a (travel) book.
