Cozy and Walking Distance to Shops

The cabin we were in was the Heritage Log Cabin, which had 2 bedrooms each with a double bed, plus 1 bathroom, a sitting room, and a kitchen. I would think it would be a little snug for 2 couples and luggage. However, it was clean, it was cozy, and we could've had the fireplace on, or rented a BBQ. It was also walking distance into town, and with the full kitchen facilities, it was nice to be able to buy some groceries at Robinson's and cook rather than eating out for all our meals. We didn't see any elk at the lodge, but that didn't change the atmosphere. There was a parking spot for one car, and wasn't sure if there was more nearby if the couples were driving separately. Quiet neighbourhood, and the staff were friendly on check-in and check-out. We didn't have breakfast there - the smaller accomodations include the continental breakfast, but we felt that $11 each would get us lots of groceries for what we would want.

Unique Quality: The Heritage Log Cabin had full kitchen facilities which is nice to have after a week of restaurant meals. The fireplace was great (although not used by us) and the fact that you could rent a BBQ.

How long driving time does it take to get from Vancouver BC to Jasper Alberta

by jklangill

Hello,

Does anyone know how long it takes to get from Vancouver BC to Jasper Alberta? Also does anyone know what the driving time is from Vancouver BC to Banff Alberta? Does anyone know a good place to camp in Jasper and Banff. We are planning on hiking with the dogs so if anyone knows if you are allowed to have dogs in campgrounds that would be great to know as well. Is there a place in Jasper or Banff that accepts campground reservations? Do we have to purchase a discovery pass that gets you in to all of the National Parks for $59.00 a person does this mean that we have to purchase the pass to stay in the campground or does that mean that you can purchase the daily one for $7.00 dollars a day regardless if you are hiking or not. If anyone can help that would be great. We are planning to hike and camp from July 22nd to Aug 1st. Thank you for reading thank you in advance for your feedback. We look forward to your reply.

Vancouver to Banff is approx 10-11 hours driving

To stay in Banff National Park, you will need a park pass plus you need to pay for camping on top of that.

Try: http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/ab/banff/index_e.asp
for more info; there is a phone number you can call to talk to someone

Have fun!!

Jasper to Vancouver is about 9 hours, but a lot depends on how bad the traffic is once you hit the "suburbs" of Vancouver.

It breaks down like this:

Jasper to Kamloops = 5 hours
Kamloops to Hope via the Coquihalla = a little less than 2 hours
Hope to Vancouver = thoeretically 1.5 hours, but usually takes a bit longer; if you hit rush hour as you are arriving it could be brutal.

Travel Tips for Jasper

Hiking from Upper Station of Jasper Tramway

by Veghel

There are some excellent trails from the Upper Station of the Jasper Tramway to the top of nearby mountains, where you can enjoy phantastic views on the mountains in the surroundings. PLease note that usual (sport) shoes are inadequate for the rocky footpaths. Bring good hiking shoes.

Welcome to Jasper

I spent an hour in Jasper on my way from Valemount to Banff back in May, 2008. It was the first weekend in May and although it's still not quite spring yet in the Rockies, we had glorious sunny weather and hot temperatures, relatively speaking.

Jasper, in the middle of the Rockies

by vtveen

On our visit to the Rockies we stayed just one night in Jasper. And in spite of our bad experience with a B&B (see accommodation tip) we do like this small town. Even more than Banff with its crowds of tourists.

Jasper is more sporty than Banff and has great sceneries and lots of nice spots to visit.

See for tips around Jasper my Jasper National Park page.
