What's in Medicine Hat?
I'm coming to MH next Spring for the first time & would like some info before getting there. I'd like know any accomodations $20-50, eateries with meals under $5, radical bookstores, coffeehouses where live poetry is read, used CD shops, & places where the underground bands play. I'd also need to know what are the attractions, activities, & the nightlife. And I would like to contact a hiking club & a writers' group. I know it's a lot to request but any little info will be appreciated.

Medicine Hat is a City of 50,000 on the Trans Canada Highway between Calgary and Regina . This is ranching country ,sunny and dry . In the fall the locals go hunting . In the winter and spring they curl or follow hockey.Some of these small Alberta cities stage Festivals , For instance at Rosebud near Drumheller. You might try the Cyprus Hills in SE Alberta for hiking . If there are poets , writers and underground bands there there will not be many .

Now, now, "The Hat" as Albertans call it isn't such a one-horse hick town with a bunch of red necks ready to lynch someone. However, it's not a very happenin' place either. There are some quaint areas in town, but to me your posting doesn't read "quaint". Are you sure you got the town right? I think the only place you can eat for under $5.00 is the local homeless shelter.
