Alberta or B.C. - weekend trip

by Karlie85

Hey everyone. We're looking to go away for Easter (I know it's last minute)...we usually go to Jasper or Banff, but would like to go somewhere different this time. We live in Edmonton, and would prefer something with the less driving time the better. Probably 7 hours max. Any suggestions? Thanks.

PS Not camping.

Try Puss Coupe, old wild west of BC border town just west of Grand Prairie. Or continue on to Dawson creek and to Bennett Dam great trout fishing.

I'd recommend Waterton, too. Only it's *really* quiet there at this time of year. There are only 2 hotels open, and 1 restaurant. And that is absolutely it. Bring your own booze, and get gas in Pincher Creek, cuz they're closed too!
If you want a wonderful, quiet, relaxing getaway, with time spent in front of a fire in your room, then that's the place to go. Check out the Crandell Lodge website (the link is on my Waterton page), they have a GREAT weekend special in the winter, where you can stay for 2 nights, plus get a dinner and breakfast at the restaurant, a bottle of wine, and flowers, for around $360, taxes included.

Their website will make mention of dinner and breakfast at the Kilmorey Lodge, with this special. Since the Kilmorey burned down a couple of months ago, I would imagine they are still offering the same deal, but with the meals being served at the Waterton Lakes Lodge (their sister property). They have had the restaurant at WLL open since the fire.

Go visit Calgary! The Oilers play for the last time this year against the Flames Saturday night. See how the other big Alberta city lives. Visit Heritage Park or the zoo. See if you can scare up a quicky VT meeting.
