MURAL MAP/ VISTOR INFO CENTRE
by balhannah
We went to Chemainus as I really enjoy Mural's.
As usual, we found the Visitor Centre which was located in an old police station on Willow Street in the town centre. One of the world famous mural's depicting a steam train crossing a bridge over Chemainus River was painted on the wall.
Here, the helpful lady told us how much the Horse & Carriage rides, plus the Train rides cost.
Not only that, but we could by a map telling us about each Mural, and where they were located, this was so handy!........They are now $2 [2010]
Just incase we didn't get to see all the Mural's, I bought a postcard set of all that were painted in the town at that time. They weren't expensive either! Books, maps, and lots of different gifts for sale.
It is also the starting point for our Historical Walking Tours.
The Visitor Information Centre (250-246-3944) is open from 10 am to 5 pm everyday except Sunday
LOCATION......9796 Willow St, Chemainus
To find it.......Take Henry Rd exit. At roundabout take left on Chemainus Rd. Travel 1 km north, follow signs to Visitor Centre.

There are presently 36 murals on building walls in Chemainus , B.C.
If you are on Vancouver Island do take the time to stop and walk through the town . The murals are scattered throuighout the town , some on major streets and intersections and some tucked away in laneways.
A sunny Sunday morning is a nice time to walk the town . Budget 30 to 45 minutes.
THE CHEMAINUS MURALS

You may not be able to take pictures of complete murals as Chemainus is still a full fledged functioning town and people have to park their cars somewhere , like right in front of a mural. Be patient .
