Log house construction

Unique Quality: Many lodges, cabins and homes in the Interior of B.C. are constructed of logs, found in abundance in the forested areas of the province. Species used include spruce, cedar and pine. The logs are first peeled of all bark , then shaped to dovetail into one another. They are a beautiful work of art as well as being practical and are nearly indestructable. I've seen many log homes which have logs a big as 18" in diameter. Some roofs are covered with cedar shakes while others use aluminum sheeting.

Log cabins and Lodge at Chilko Lake

Unique Quality: Chilko Lake lodge is made entirely of hand-hewn logs which give a feeling of warmth as you enter the place. It has a large indoor pool as well as superb accomodation and fine dining.

Chilko Lake Lodge: The finest Lodge in B.C.

Unique Quality: The spectacular setting, combined with outstanding accomodation and superb dining will make this a destination to rember for the rest of your life. The lounge features a life-sized cougar mounted in the bar.

The lodge also features a full sized swimming pool indoors.
