Disappointing Vacation Experience at Riverside
We exchanged our timeshare with Interval International for a week at the Sunchaser Vacation Villas at Riverside in July, 2012. We checked in and we were given a B unit. We booked a one bedroom, full kitchen unit which was described as accommodating four people. This was definitely NOT the case. We complained but weren’t accommodated with a unit that we signed up for. There is no kitchen table, only a one foot wide by three foot wide tiled counter top attached to the wall, with 2 bar stools under it. The counter top was enough space to accommodate the phone, coffee pot, toaster, etc. and that was pretty much it. We had to eat our meals at the coffee table. The kitchen area had a sink, a two burner stove top right next to it so when washing dishes we had to place a plastic lid from one of our bins (no dish drainer supplied) on the stove. Very unsafe it you recently used the stove. There is almost no room in the kitchen area so cooking meals was a very difficult task. The coffee pot did not work but staff were quick to send us a new one. Some of the dishes in the cupboard were dirty as well as the frying plan and some utensils. We lost our appetite for breakfast by then.
The fridge is a tiny bar fridge. The freezer compartment was very small and didn’t get cold enough to freeze ice cubes.
The windows to the units don’t open and no screen on the front door so we were forced to run a noisy window-unit AC. The couch was situated next to the AC which made it very uncomfortable and noisy while sitting there.
The bedroom had a queen-size bed. There was one tiny window facing a stair well so very little ventilation which caused our room to be very warm and stuffy. The cool air from the AC did not reach our room.
We had a wonderful view of the parking lot. Our private deck was a walkway. If we sit on our deck, people would step on our feet to get pass. On a couple of occasions, we were forced to park far away from our unit due to the lack of parking space. We were told that if we didn’t have the parking pass on our windshield we may get towed away. Several vehicles did not have a parking pass. We complained but nothing became of it.
The wifi internet is completely unreliable.
We can hear our neighbours’ conversations in nearby units.
A $75/hour charge if you check out after 10 AM? That is ridiculous.
Be prepared to pay high prices for groceries at nearby stores.
No elevators. Be prepared to haul all of your belongings/groceries/etc. up the stairs.
Blinds do not keep out sun.
No counter in bathroom. No place to put toiletries.
No laundry facilities in unit. Need to walk over to the rec centre.
This resort is in desperate need of upgrades and maintenance.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this location unless you are a golfer and are planning on staying for a couple of nights. It is a pretty quiet location. We have no desire to come back. Very disappointed.
