Average But Disorganized Hotel

We stayed at the Comfort Inn & Suites for one night, as we were driving from Victoria (3:00 pm ferry) to Calgary (arrived 4:30 pm the next day, with time change). We weren't interested in checking out the hotel facilities, we just wanted a place to fall asleep quickly.

When we checked in, we were given keys to our room. We crossed the parking lot to the hotel's second building and went up to our room. When we checked in, we found that the room had only one king sized bed. In our hands, we held a receipt showing we had reserved two queens, so we called the front desk. They told us to use the pull-out couch! I'm sorry, but that is NOT two queens!

We returned to the front desk and asked to be moved to a room with two queens. The front desk agent said the hotel was very full, and he could only place us in a room that overlooked the highway. That's not such a big deal to me, as our reservation said only two queens (and didn't mention highway facing). What I found rude was that the agent acted like he was doing us this HUGE favour by putting us in a suite- when clearly that was the only room they had left because they had messed up our reservation! We went up to our new room... and couldn't get the door open! We tried and tried, but nothing worked. The front desk agent came up, and it took him nearly ten minutes to open the door! It was NOT a pleasant wait.

The suite was big and clean. It did overlook the highway but we all slept well. In the morning there was a free continental breakfast in the lobby. We grabbed a few muffins for the road.

Kamloops is a town for people passing through. There are lots of hotels along the highway. If you just need somewhere to sleep for a few hours, you can do better than the Comfort Inn.
