I like Vernon better
it's a zoo in the summer time and i avoid it as much as possible.
i like vernon or summerland better too.

Dave is entitled to his opinion, but I don't know where the redneck comes from - it's a small city and most of the people move here for the lifestyle, pretty laid back and 4 seasons of outdoor recreation. There is a growing cultural community with local theatre, art galleries, etc., wineries to tour, world-class golf courses, great shopping and of course the lake. High season is from may to October so in summer it will be busy and more expensive. Traffic is definitely an issue in the tourist months but the new north end bypass is almost finished so that should alleviate some problems.
Kelowna is in the centre of the Okanagan Valley and other places are easily visited - there are several smaller towns with their own unique offerings within 1-2 hour drive.
The hotels are scattered around the city but there also alot of houses for rent so that is also something to consider if you are here for a week or more.

It appears that this rally and display is an annual event taking place the Long weekend in May, Victoria day, around the third weekend in the month.
The cars on display are Thunderbirds, all neatly lined up cleaned and polished for all to see.

Knox Mountain Park is a large natural park of 580 acres, containing mostly Ponderosa Pine and grassland. Kokanee salmon spawn along the lakeshore adjacent to the park.
It is located north of Kelowna, next to Okanagan Lake.
There are several lookout kiosks, Toilets, and pull-offs to take in the amazing views.
Make sure you stop at all the lookouts, we did, the views were fantastic of Kelowna,
scenic views of lake Okanagan and surrounding areas.
We could see the the Timber Mill quite easily, and all the logs waiting in the Lake to be milled.

It also was a very popular area for Wedding Photo's. In the short time we were at the 1st lookout, three wedding parties came!
The Park is open to vehicle traffic from March 15 to November 15, from 6 am to 10 pm.
(Please note: Park schedule is dependant on weather conditions.)
For thrills & spills, you could watch the annual Knox Mountain Hillclimb .....testing cars and drivers on a paved road course of ten major turns, climbing 800 vertical feet over 2.2 miles!
EXCELLENT LOCATION FOR VIEWS OF KELOWNA & AREA, A MUST VISIT!
