Things for teens to do in Kelowna

by mangojuice

I'm looking for some information on activites/ attractions that would appeal to 16-19 year old males. This would be in the winter time, but could not include skiing.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hockey, indoor volleyball, snowmobiling (watch for barbed wire fences) ice fishing, curling, bowling, work.
I could offer maybe 100 more but you get the idea.....just about any thing they can do in Vancouver.

To be quite honest, as a 16 year old guy lving here there is very little to do. Kelowna is much more oriented for all the old people who sit around and complain about the teenagers. Most of us local kids just hang-out and play video games and whatever.

Travel Tips for Kelowna

My visit in 2001, fire 2003, is it still there?

The old rail line was single track system and since it is or was in the mountains or hills, there were many streams and creeks to cross, the trestle bridge was used very often to bridge the gap.

There are 18 trestles in the section of the old K V Railway near Kelowna, in the vicinity of Myra Canyon about 10 kms east and above Kelowna.

The forest fire that raged over the mountain top in the summer of 2003, destroyed several homes and burnt 13 trestles . Thus the pathway was impossible to use.

Our visit in May 2005 was to the Myra Canyon section of the trail. The first trestle has been rpelaced, so it is possible to walk about another 1 km, crossing two more trestles, before the path is closed.

The photo shows one of the trestles at the Ruth section of the trail as we walked across it 4 years ago. I cannot recall if this was the first one we crossed or the second. One of hese trestes in this are was burnt, but I am not aware if it has been replaced

Kelowna is probably the best summer getaway in British Columbia. It is consistently the hottest and sunniest place in the province. It's big enough to give you everything you'd need, but small enough that you feel like you're away from the big city.

"Gyro Beach"

The best beach in town, both for nice sand, nice water, a beautiful view, and other "sights".
