The Hotel Eldorado

Missed the mark on so many levels

My partner arranged a very special romantic weekend away for us and included this beautiful hotel for one of the nights. Check in staff was lovely and courteous and professional. The Lakeview Luxury suite he booked was really amazing... gorgeous and spacious. We went for dinner and ordered steak with blue cheese topping. The service was terrible! It took forever to get our wine, and then we waited again to get a glass! Finally when the steak arrived it was so BURNED, (obviously so) that it was, for the most part, inedible. The slice of cheese on top was so thin it may as well not have been there. This was a $44 steak! I needed salt and pepper for the nice potato side, but none on the table and no waiter.. I waited and tried to eat this steak. I alerted the waiter of the problem and he was very apologetic and removed the steak from the bill, and he also took the wine off the bill, which was very nice. It's so unfortunate that this restaurant is managed so poorly. Understaffed for sure, and that chef needs a reality check.

So.. we get to our room to find that the beautiful looking giant clawfoot style "Jetted-jacuzzi" tub was ridiculous. Tiny air-bubble jets, no real jacuzzi type jets at all. The tap poured either ice cold or burning hot from the 2 taps... Not good when you are in the tub already and trying to warm it up... getting scalded was not fun.

The kitchen did not even have wine glasses or a cork screw, so we had to call the front desk to have them brought up.. in the Okanagan Wine country, during the wine festival... WTF??

The bed was perfect. Thankfully.

I was so looking forward to the multi jetted shower the next morning! I wanted to end the stay on a good note and kept a positive outlook. Well, this shower could be compared to a fire department showing up at a 3 alarm fire with a garden hose. Ridiculously low pressure made it completely impotent. What a waste of what seemed like good equipment.

We dared to give the restaurant another chance. Again, extremely POOR, SLOW service which just added icing to this disaster.

This hotel could be so much more. It was so disappointing to see a perfect setting, a lovely hotel, ruined by poor management, a terrible restaurant, and poorly planned plumbing. We won't be back.

Unique Quality: This is a gorgeous hotel. Our room was, indeed beautiful, and seemingly well appointed. The lake view was lovely.
