Fishing in the southern Interior

The many lakes in the Merritt region offer some great challenges to the angler. Ice is off usually in mid-May. Some great fly hatches occur in June and July. Some of my favorite lakes include Pennask, Lac le Jeune, Nicola, Peterhope and Stump. Low water levels in recent years has hurt some of the lakes but they are now rebounding. Peterhope Lake has produced enormous rainbows up to 16 pounds in the past but 5 pounds is about average.
