GREEN GABLES BEACH RESORT: RIGHT ON THE BEACH

    Wednesday, May 28 and Hans and I decide to stay overnight in OSOYOOS. at the GREEN GABLES BEACH RESORTWhat a good decision. I loved this place. It was quiet and it was right on the beach. We had a double bed, T.V. Kitchenette and sitting area and all for $50.00 plus tax($57.50.).

    I can't say enough about this place. The owners were delightful and because it was still off season, had time to talk to us about the area and what it had to offer.

    • A bit pricey, but its a nice place to rest. The previous guests had left the windows open, so when we arrived the room was full of musquitos. The staff came in and vacumed them all up. Nice staff and comfy rooms.

    • The Casa Del Mila ORO is a condo/townhome complex with a spa. IT is across the street from it's own private lake and boat launch. The rooms are very comfortable with granite countertops and nice furniture and bedding. The comforts of home (and more).
    We stayed at the condo which is 2 bedrooms. My only beef was that there was no closet in the kids room but they just folded their clothes into the drawer. No biggie. They rent for about $250 a night in the summer. They are a 5 minute walk from town and the Rattle Snake Canyon where we walked to every night for ice cream and rides.

    COmforts of home. CLose to provate beach. Like a mini apartment.

    a) it's on top of a mountain - Anarchist mountain, at that

    b) desert vegetation and wildlife on the grounds

    c) panoramic view of Osoyoos (the lake and town)

    d) everyone gets their own patio

    but most importantly,

    e) the observatory! With a fully functioning professional-quality computer-run telescope system in the observatory, guests at this B&B get their own astronomy lessons and viewings through the telescope. There's even a theatre where you can see multimedia presentations on the galaxies, stars and the universe on those rare cloudy nights.

    We stayed at this Osoyoos campground for a couple of nights on our Okanagan trip. It had room for both tents and RV's, with grassy spots for the tents. It was quite nice if rather cramped and not at all private, despite the existence of cabana shelters in many of the tenting spots. We had a spot with a view of the lake, which is just across the street, which was quite nice. There are coin-operated showers and laundry facilities and a convenience store on site.

    When we had previously camped in Osoyoos we had stayed at the Wild Rapids campground which had spacious grassy tenting spots in a beautiful orchard next to the waterslide. Since then the entire orchard has vanished and been replaced by an RV-only campground, where row after row of RV's are situated at close quarters. It's really sad but I'm sure the owners are making a lot more money. I think Walton's Mountain is going the same way as they are already promoting RV lots for sale.
