vacationing in the Okanagan Valley in south-central British Columbia with my family. I believe I spent 4 summers in the Okanagan. My father's a high school science teacher by day, but was a wine educator by night. So every time we travelled to the Okanagan we always spent a day or two touring some of the dozens of the amazing wineries. Most people are completely unaware of BC's large wine industry because a) many people think Canada's too cold to grow grapes (they're wrong), b) many of these wines aren't available in stores outside of Canada (unfortunately!) and c) BC's wine industry is relatively young and has been around for only about 20 years. But according to wine experts, these British Columbian wines are at the same excellent level as some of the top wines in the world. "Crazy long weekend...."
Peach Fest is an annual event in Penticton, and it brings people from Vancouver to Saskatchewan and even further to partake in this annual event. Live bands, camping, partying...its a great time, and well worth the travels...although it is a tough ride home..:)
