My brother and his wife have been living in a rental cottage on the shores of Lakelse Lake for a few years now and what a fantastic location they have! He gave me the instructions of how to find it off Highway 37 and, sure enough, after communicating by cell phone, as we went over the top of a hill he was waiting alongside the highway on his bicycle so he could lead us down an unpaved road through the rain forest to the lakeshore. This view of their 2-story cottage was taken from the end of their dock, but does not show the several other cottages that are also nestled among the trees along the shoreline in both directions.
The second photo shows the beautiful interior with its fully equipped kitchen, including a dishwasher. The interior has been very nicely decorated by them, using various bits of driftwood to be converted into support stands for tables or for hanging racks for hats or clothes. There are fully equipped bathrooms and bedrooms on both levels as well as an upstairs bedroom balcony and downstairs living room window for great views out over the lake. The 3rd photo is a view north along the beautiful lakeshore, with their sandy beach in front of the cottage visible at the right.
We really enjoyed our stay, especially since the sun cooperated with us – something that is not guaranteed in this rain forest Pacific coastal climate!
