Terrible Service at Long Beach Lodge
Stayed at this hotel in March 2003, after seeing beautiful pictures of it online. When we arrived we were pleased to find it was just as gorgeous as the pictures!
Unfortunately, we found the staff to be curt and unfriendly. When we checked in we were not welcomed or smiled at, and were disappointed to find that there was no one to help with luggage, which we had to haul up to our room on the second floor. Our ocean view room was just past the dining room and were shocked at how loud the after dinner clean up noise was from the open kitchen. After settling in to bed at around 11pm we were awakened by the very, very loud sound of the jacuzzi bath on the floor above us. At this point we called the front desk and were told by staff that they had had complaints of that nature before but that there was nothing they could do.
Not wanting to spend another loud night in the same room, the next day we left a message for the manager so that our concerns could be adressed. She approached us in the middle of the restaurant, sat down at out table and told us that there was nothing they could do, they had never had those complaints before, and that because we had received a 10 percent discount (AAA) on our room at booking we had no right to complain. She didn't even have the decency to meet with us in private. If the staff and management had been friendly, maybe offering a free dessert in the restaurant or even just some sympathy, we would not have been so disappointed with our stay overall. The poor treatment was worse in our minds than the noise problem!! I would stay there again, but only if the management were different and the staff were genuine and friendly. There was no attempt to make guests feel welcome or special.
