Great location, pretty room

There seem to be quite a few attractive places to stay in the vicinity of Tofino, but we chose this one for its location right in the village and its character. Although a fairly new building, it looks old because it’s been built with recycled bricks from Downtown Vancouver, its hardwood floors are from an old racket club and most of the stained glass windows are original, collected from as far away as Scotland.

The Inn has the appearance of a Bed & Breakfast but it’s not – what you get for your money is simply a room, albeit a very nice one. Many of the eight rooms have views of Tofino harbour and all are tastefully decorated in a style that suits the old building materials but isn’t over-fussy. We chose room 2 which has a covered deck overlooking the water and a queen bed. The current cost is from $99 - $169 (Canadian) depending on the time of year – and as I’ve said, that’s room only, for double occupancy.

Unique Quality: There is a restaurant on the premises, serving sushi and other Japanese dishes, but we didn’t eat there so I can’t comment except to say that it looked nice – check out the menu on the website if you’re interested: http://www.toughcity.com/main.php?Section=Menu
