More about BayView Bed and Breakfast
Unforgettable stay in Bay View B&B
We have just come back from the wonderful holiday in Vancouver. Staying at Bay View B&B is the most fantastic memory for us.
We were very comfortable at their fancy clean rooms, enjoyed the great view from the window, and delicious&beautiful BIG breakfast plus the homemade cookies in the bedroom every evening. And the price was just excellent since they gave us a big discount!
Jim and Gwen helped us a lot to arrange our trip since we booked, therefore we drived around Vancouver easily even it was the first time visit there for us.
Also we appreciate that they are very friendly to my sons.I am sure it was a great opportunity for them to know Canadian people. That's one of the reason we chose staying their B&B but hotel.I am deeply impressed their friendly hospitality.
We hope we can come back again soon.Thank you, Jim and Gwen!
Best B&B Experience Ever!
The Bayview B&B is simply wonderful. From the moment you pass through the alluring arched hedge entrance to the Bayview B&B property, you will be pampered! The innkeepers, Gwen and Jim, are amazingly thoughtful and generous; they are gracious hosts who make you feel like a dear old friend in their lovely home. Simon, the most adorable dog in the entire universe, is a blast to play with -- dog lovers beware, Simon will steal your heart and you will want to take him home with you! The suites are charming and very comfortable, with fantastic views of English Bay, the Lions Gate bridge and Stanley park, and the beautiful Bayview garden. The four-course breakfasts are beyond delicious and fresh-baked afternoon/evening cookies are fabulous. We could hardly bear to leave and can't wait to go back! We've stayed in over a dozen B&Bs in 8 states and Canada and can say without qualification that this is our favorite B&B EVER!
Vancouver's #1 Must-See!
My husband and I just returned from five days in beautiful Vancouver, and we both agreed that, as inviting and gorgeous as that city is, the real highlight of our trip was our stay at Bayview B&B in West Vancouver.
We thought the location was perfect, just a few minutes outside downtown Vancouver, and envious locals confirmed that "West Van" is definitely the nicest part of town.
Our hosts, Gwen and Jim, were as warm and inviting as their charming home, welcoming us as if we were cherished friends from the very start. Not only did we appreciate their above-and-beyond hospitality, but we also valued the depth of their knowledge of the Vancouver area (especially little things like which parking lots are free all day!). However, if it's a face-licking welcome you're expecting upon your arrival, you'll have to get that from Simon the Wonderdog.
Our recommendation for visitors to Bayview B&B is to consider a week-long fast prior to your arrival at Gwen & Jim's breakfast table. The incredible, four-course breakfasts were so generous and irresistible, you probably won't have to eat the rest of the day.
We particularly looked forward to visiting with other guests at the breakfast table, as well as with Gwen and Jim who, aside from their incomparable culinary talents, have a wealth of knowledge and appreciation for travelers from all backgrounds, having welcomed them all at some point into their lovely home.
A summer visit to Vancouver is a must. Unbelievable weather and no bugs! We can guarantee that, among your favorite memories of your stay, will be Bayview B&B. You'll find that Gwen and Jim are two people who are extraordinarily generous with their time and information. They are also genuinely interested in helping you to make the most of your visit to the city they love and build their lives around sharing with others.

The B & B gem of Vancouver!
My husband and 14 year old daughter were taking a trip to Seattle, the San Juan Islands and Vancouver. When inquiring by e-mail for the Bayview B & B in Vancouver, Gwen, the owner and proprietress was so helpful, pleasant and complimentary through the internet, that we just had to stay there. And, after seeing Gwen and her husband Jim in person and seeing their wonderful accommodations, we have nothing but raves to extend. When you arrive you are warmly greeted by Gwen and Jim and made to feel at home instantly. Next, their wonderful dog Simon greets you and wants to play ball. Going down the list, the room was extremely neat and clean with tourist brochures and homemade cookies on the bed. Gwen and Jim are more than happy to tell you the places of interest in and around Vancouver to sightsee, even going as far as making restaurant reservations for you where you can receive 25% off your dinner at selected establishments. In addition to spotlessly clean rooms and plush linens on the bed, the breakfasts that Gwen and Jim prepare become more and more lavish, the more you stay there. We were there for 3 days and each breakfast was better than the next, using the freshest fruit, cream, salmon and delicious scones you could ever imagine. By far, there is no better B & B in Vancouver, let alone the whole Northern Hemisphere! Bravo Bayview B & B and bravo to Gwen and Jim!
Combination of great view - great comfort
We were absolutely delighted that we were directed to your truly delightfuld B&B. The weather co-operated and we were able to enjoy spectacular view of Vancouver from our bedroom window in North
Van, - and from the ground floor patio. We enjoyed warm, wonderful hospitality, gourmet meals, terrific beds. Concern and design for privacy and space combined with stunning scenery and thoughtful attention to detail made our trip memorable. Gwen and Jim - thanks for a great stay, we definitely want to come back” It is one of our favorite reviews!

Old World Charm and Hospitality
The Bayview B & B is charming and peaceful retreat in West Vancouver, away from the noise and bustle of the city, yet easily accessible by car. Our hosts, Jim and Gwen, were warm and gracious, offering beverages, scrumptious scones with homemade jams, and a friendly chat after our long journey from Ohio. They are excellent cooks who served delightful four course breakfasts (including dessert!) that rivaled any that we've tasted at the B & B's that we've visited throughout the U.S. and Canada. They even offered us recipes of our favorites! Each day Gwen helped us plan our excursions considering our interests, made dinner recommendations and reservations, and provided helpful tips about routes, parking, ferries, and the like. When unable to fill our request for four nights at Bayview she helped us arrange accommodations in a B & B in Whistler. This service far surpassed any that we've received at a B & B or hotel before. Our room was lovely, complete with bathrobes and wine glasses, with a very comfortable and cozy bed, an attached bath, and relaxing sitting room. It's open-air window, reminiscent of Europe, offered a breathtaking view of Vancouver and quiet mornings. This is an outstanding B & B and we'd love to return!
Gracious, Friendly, Hospitable, Excellent in Everyway!
Jim & Gwen are the most accommodating hosts I have ever encountered at a bed & breakfast. I have stayed at many B&Bs in the New England area in the U.S. (which is so well known for their 5 Star B&Bs) and feel qualified enough to judge Bayview in such a positive light.
Their willingness to meet all of my needs was so incredible that I wish I could give them a 10 star rating. The food is superb in not only quantity and taste but also its presentation. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, well-equipped and stocked with all of your daily necessities. My problem was not having had enough time to spend with this lovely couple and to relax more with them & Simon, the star of this B&B. (He's the 4-legged mascot and heads up the welcoming committee).
I had two issues: 1) I couldn't fit Simon in my suitcase and 2) I couldn't fit the bed and linens in the suitcase.
The beds are top of the line and those fine Egyptian cotton sheets sure help with a good nights' sleep. I plan to purchase that same bed soon!

Peace & Harmony
We recently stayed at Bay View B&B - after a hectic several months in our lives. It was beautiful, relaxing and exactly the respite we needed.
We found Gwen and Jim to be friendly and very accommodating hosts; they could not have been nicer and pointed us in the right direction for several of Vancouver's "must see" attractions. The views from our suite and from the B&B in general were spectacular and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. They offered us our choice of a selection of videos - and gave us a card which was good for a generous discount on our dinner at a superb local seafood restaurant. Jim is the chef for afternoon tea (scones with home made jam. Yum!) and our delicious four-course breakfast!
Our only disappointment was that we could only stay for one night as our trip was a last-minute getaway and Bay View was already booked for the next two days. However, Gwen took the trouble to find us accommodations at a nearby B&B, so we were well cared for. We look forward to staying with Gwen and Jim when next we are able to escape to beautiful Vancouver.
An Oasis of Peace, Beauty and Gracious Hospitality
Our visit to the BayView was sheer luxury! Gwen and Jim are outstanding hosts who made us feel pampered, relaxed and completely at home during our first visit to the Vancouver area.
We arrived after a long drive from Seattle and were greeted with glasses of chilled BC wine, fresh iced tea and smoked salmon hors d'oeuvres. We sat out on the balcony and enjoyed a magnificent view of the waterfront, Stanley Park and the city. The Bayview Suite was spacious and elegantly decorated with a sitting room with fireplace. Gwen and Jim thoughtfully set up a bed there for our 3 year old. The bedroom was airy and has its own private balcony. The kitchenette with washer/dryer was a wonderful amenity for our extended vacation.
Now, for the four course breakfasts...Jim brews the most delicious cup of coffee to accompany dish after dish of fresh and creatively prepared breakfast items: homemade jams, baked goods, crab quiche, eggs, salmon, and something light and sweet to finish. It sounds like a lot, but we found everything to be perfectly presented and portioned. It was fun to be able to take home recipes so we can enjoy these dishes again.
Gwen was a terrific resource in planing our Vancouver vacation, as she had lots of great suggestions and ideas for things to do and see. She is especially good at accommodating the varied tastes of her guests and proposing appropriate activities. Both Gwen and Jim know Vancouver well and you can tell that they truly love their city from the history they know and all the places they will tell you about.
Oh, and I mustn't forget Simon! He is an adorable dog and our son fell madly in love with him. Simon kept him well entertained, playing ball in the back garden after breakfast while we got ready for the day.
All in all, we were so well looked after at the Bay View, I cannot recommend it highly enough!!
My boyfriend and I spent a long weekend in Vancouver for a badly needed vacation. Our stay at the Bayview B&B was one of the highlights of the entire trip. Jim and Gwen were incredibly sweet, attentive, and helpful. The room was incredible, with a view of the Lion's Gate Bridge, Stanley Park, and the City. Simon, their little dog, was adorable and fun without being intrusive in any way. And last, but not least by any means, the food. Beautifully presented, each breakfast was an experience in gourmet abundance! Fresh cinnamon buns one day, lemon scones the next... I have never eaten such delicious meals in my life. Anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing, pampering get-away would be wise to choose the BayView. We can hardly wait to go back again.
