Thsi place is great. We stayed there for four days and it cost less than $400.00 CDN. It is walking distance to every downtown attraction, close to skytrain and the parking is FREE!! What more could you ask for? Friendly staff I guess....which they are and comfy bed! Some people like the more expensive hotels...but this one suites me just fine.....I'd rather spend my money on other things anyway...like clothes!
Bosmans Hotel is a great compromise between fancy hotels and hostels. The rooms are cheap, for hotel pricing. Not only are they cheap, but they are clean, comfortable, and within seconds of Granville's nightlife. Just a few blocks away is the shopping district on Robson.
The 100 rooms are equipped with heat/air conditioning, cable tv, hairdryers, and clock radios.
Certain floors are designated as non smoking.
I would recommend this as an affordable, comfortable place to stay right in the heart of all the action in Vancouver.
Unique Quality: outdoor heated pool
free parking (hard to find in downtown Vancouver hotels!!)
Directions: From Hwy 99 - Hwy 99 becomes Oak St.

Slightly unusual but can anyone recommend a good mid-price hotel(£40-£60: reasonably close to the centre) that also includes a complimentary breakfast?
If you are planning to visit Vancouver between now and the end of August, it will be difficult to find a mid range hotel for the price you wish to pay, let alone one that serves a complimentary breakfast. The cruise season is upon us and hotel prices tend to skyrocket. Check the following for rates, BestWestern Downtown Vancouver located on Drake St. Days Inn Downtown on Pender St., Bosmans Hotel on Howe St.Robson Suites on Robson, Riviera Hotel located on Robson St., Robsonstrasse City Motor Inn on Robson St, Victorian Hotel on Homer St. and most definately check the YWCA hotel on Beatty. You will find others, but they are in areas that are certainly not desireable, stay away from anything you see in Gastown, Gastown is ok, but it right on the fringe of the drug area, and there are many "welfare hotels" in the area.
The Sandman on Davie also is well priced and includes breakfast
The Victorian Hotel might fit your budget and breakfast requirements:
