About Siwash trail
by alaintonnerre
Practically all of Stanley park's trails have been severely damaged from the 3 or 4 winter storms we got here in december 2006.
And the Siwash trail is especially in bad shape since it lies on the west side near the seawall.
The Seawall is also closed indefinitely , as I am writing this on May 15th 2007 , the repairs have not yet started !!!!
So be advised and when you come , you will see how powerfull the winds were .
Sunset ...

Hmm this is starting to become a theme in my travel pages :-)
I was lucky enough to be able to stay with a friend who has an apartment overlooking the bay. If you can, grab any vantage point to watch the sun set over the ships, boats, trees and buildings .. a unique mix of man-made and natural beauty. For me, it sums up Van - a city at home in its wondrous surroundings.

For a sweeping view of the city head for Grouse Mountain, take the skyride up and see the whole city. Whistler is a ski resort about 90 minutes away that is just amazing. Watch a sunset at Kits Beach. Stroll through old growth rainforest in Stanley Park Vancouver really is a place where you can golf, ski, and sail all in the same day. You can sit at the beach at look at the snow capped mountains. The city is always green, even in the winter. Restaurants are everywhere and a bargain. So is golf. Great hiking, biking, blading, etc etc. Beautiful people wearing a lot of fleece clothing. All you can eat sushi for $7, What more do you need in life?
Vancouver in the spring
by toontown
One of my favourite times of year in Vancouver is the spring, which is just starting in March. The weather is less damp and milder, crocuses and daffodils appear in gardens everywhere and best of all, the cherry blossoms all over town. Particularly worth a look are the side roads west of Granville, lined with blossoming trees. A few weeks later, the pink and white petals will be carpeting the boulevards. See my new travelogue for more spring blossom pics.
Canada Place, Cruise Ship Dock
by Mikebb
You cannot miss Canada Place located on the waterfront between Coal Harbour and the Burrard Inlet and identified by the 5 sails standing on top of the Cruise Ship Terminal. It is from here that many of the cruise boat depart on the Alaska cruise, and it is also the home of The Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Well worth walking down to the waterfront to view the sails and admire the large cruise boats. On the Coal Harbour side you will see the Floatplane terminal and be amazed by the constant flow of planes arriving and taking off from these waters. On the right side you will see the Seabus Terminal.
