Hilton Vancouver Airport: Hilton Vancouver Airport

Varies by seasons and demand.

Located in Richmond and approximately 30-minutes away from Downtown Vancouver. Hotel features studio rooms and suites. Try asking for a suite upgrade and you may get it if they are not near fully booked. Hotel is about 10 minites to the airport. Very good for late arrivals/early departures. Also try the Marriott Airport next door. They are about the same quality.

King Pacific Lodge: King Pacific Lodge

a 3 night basic weekend package will set you back CAD $3000 plus tax.

A member of Rosewood hotels (for those not familiar with Rosewood, it is one of the luxury hotel groups. Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas and Hotel Carlyle in New York are both members of the group) The resort is located on Price Rupert Island, about two hours away by air from Vancouver. I haven't stayed there yet, but want to list it for those considering spending a weekend or a week away in the wildness without sacrificing style and comfort.

The greater Vancouver area has...

The greater Vancouver area has some excellent hot springs to explore, including the Spa of Canada, Harrison Hot Springs. The centrepiece of a luxury hotel, Harrison Hot Springs is a resort town with recreation and health at the forefront - soothe yourself in 8,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor natural mineral hot spring pools. There's swimming, canoeing, and fishing on nearby Harrison Lake. In addition, there are sailboards and bikes to rent and hiking trails nearby. The resort operates all year round, but the peak season is from June through September. Harrison Hot Springs is fronted by a long stretch of municipal beach, so perfect for building sand castles that an annual world championship sand sculpture competition is held here in September. The pools at the hotel are for guests only - but don't be dismayed: the public soaking pool, which has cooled hot-spring water pumped into it, is large and wonderfully warm. The public pool is one block east of the hotel.

My favorite place to stay is...

My favorite place to stay is The Grouse Inn in North Vancouver, across the Lion's Gate Bridge.
I've paid between $40-$50 Canadian in the off seasons (fall, winter, and early spring) and $70 Canadian in summer.

It's easily accessible from the city if you have a car, and it's a very good value. It's usually possible to bargain the room down to $40-$50 Canadian in the off seasons, and includes a clean room with a double bed, private bathroom with great water pressure, tv with cable, continental breakfast until 10am, and a coffeemaker in the room. I believe some rooms have kitchenettes and mini fridges as well.

I strongly recommend...

I strongly recommend affordable lodgings by Shirley Sue-a-Quan. You can reach her by going to their web site at http://www.jasmineplace.bc.ca/, by email at jasmineplace@hotmail.com, or calling them at (604) 325-4989. They have some great weekly, monthly, and permanent rentals - will treat you well. Just tell them that Tom Baurley referred you (I'm one of their tenants) and they'll take care of your lodging needs affordably.
variable, depending on what you are looking for.

Good prices, great setups, good views.

T'ai Li Lodge
T'ai Li Lodge...

T'ai Li Lodge
T'ai Li Lodge is bound on three sides by the sea. The snow-capped Coast Mountain Range to the east towers over Desolation Sound. The lodge is backed by forest and stands on a rocky peninsula which forms a secure, deep water anchorage. Although Cortes Island can be reached all year by boat, sea plane and car ferry, our lodge is accessible only by boat, float plane or by foot, a 10 minute walk on a forest path. You are surrounded by wilderness, peace and privacy.

T'ai Li Lodge is perfect for family reunions, family holidays and celebrations, small kayaking groups, yoga retreats etc. The property will be serviced and managed by Brian Fryer, who has been with the lodge for the past three years and who has lived on Cortes for many years working in the hospitality business and as a naturalist.

Mountain Side Manor: A Great B&B in North Vancouver

Mountain Side Manor is the last house on the road to the gondola up at Grouse Mountain. The rooms have beautiful views of either the mountain or looking down on Stanley Park and the city. The Panorama Room has a king size bed and a "Champagne Bubble" jacuzzi tub with a separate shower.

A "Gourmet Delight" describes the breakfast served by the hosts, Anne and Mike Murphy. We spent hours with them each morning as they gave us directions, information, help plan our day and even made reservations for us. An outstanding B&B and we really want to return for a longer visit. The price listed below is per person.

I stayed at two dirrent hostels: HI Jericho Beach and Global Backpackers. Though Jericho Beach was an excellent large facility, it was a bit far from all the sights of the main area of Vancouver. Global Backpackers was smaller and centrally located, and definitely a pleasant place to stay.

another canada place shot: another canada place shot

there is a famous restaurant in the Canada Place, that is, according to me, ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID!

Not because food is bad, but because a light meal (that will let you hungry and searching for a fast food) will cost you at least $150!

I recommend my homestay...

I recommend my homestay family. My school agency (www.eslvancouver.com) found a Canadian family for me to stay with in Vancouver. They are very nice and invite me to many activities. They made it much easier for me to travel to another country.
$25

The family is very social and active. I can know Canada very well because of the family. They show me a typical Canadian family and also tell me about the real Canada. It is also very good for my English to speak with them.
