Vancouver's excellent budget accomodation
Recommended to those looking for clean basic budget accommodation and relying on public transport. The hotel is clean as expected, located next to Columbia Str station. I felt the manager is not so freindly, but only see him the most 5 minutes each time and in the end he is actually OK. I think he just need some customer service skills, thats all.
We stayed for 4 nights in early July 2006 and really enjoyed it. Discovered few places by train, bus and foot . We dined for the evening mainly at the local cafes & restaurant, on our last morning we managed to walked around the local suburb; something I will not do if we were to stay in a hotel downtown.
Will do it again

New West Hotel
We stayed here for a week at very reasonable rate. The hotel is recently remodeled and in a bdlg that is over 100 years old. The room was clean and management tried very hard. It does appear though that some details could be better but we like it very much and would stay again, Hotel is right next to sky train station and on colubia street. This area was very nice and it appears to be on its way to being even nicer.
