Stop by the Information Center first!
by joiwatani
There is one thing that you gain by stopping by at the Information Center at boarder of Canada- you will save a lot of time! The information guide will give you free brochures on all the tourist destination in Canada and also they give you free maps! You can also map out your day and plan ahead so you can see more places and it saves you a lot of time. Just for example, we were told to first go to Stanley Park and then pass the bridge to go to the Capilano Suspension Bridge! These parks are close to each other!
Also, the tourist information will also give you discounts at the main gate if you buy your tickets to get entry at the Capilano Bridge.
There are several parking lots and some overflow parking lots located at the park. When it is peak season, it is better to park close to the police station which located at the left loop of Stanley Park - behind the building. Just cut across the park to get to the Totem Poles or if you have a lot of time, walk around the path.
Make sure to pay your parking fees. The parking meter accepts either US or Canadian coins. It also accepts credit cards. The fine for not paying is expensive. The first two hours cost $2 Canadian dollars! I love the food at the International District or the China town! They have all the fruits that I love to eat!
Beautiful UBC
by Jyrki
UBC has easily one of the most naturally beautiful campuses in Canada if not North America. Located on picturesque Point Grey in the west of Vancouver and surrounded by the lush Pacific Spirit Park not only is the University of to brilliant students but brilliant lanscapes as well. Poignant sites to visit include the Museum of Anthopology, The Rose Garden, the Nitobe gardens and the Botanical gardens and the many works of modern art that dot the campus. While visiting campus be sure to say 'hello' to the squirrels. Having walked the university grounds for 6 long years it was easy to forget how spoiled I was to be attending school on such a beautiful campus. Even now that I have (finally) graduated I still miss walks to class through some the majestic trees that decorate the campus.

Take in the scenery, it is stunning to say the least. My fiurst real vew of Vancouver was coming from the Airport into Vancover and I asked the Taxi driver to stop just so I could take in the view of the mountains surrounding the city. No wonder I want to move there :-). The pic is a view of Vancouver from Queens Park.
There is so much I miss about Vancouver, the general vibrancy of the city, the good food, walking into people making films all over the place, going to Granville Island and just shopping and loafing around.
There is so much I miss.
I can say hand on heart I truely love Vancouver.
Sushi
by jamiesno
Vancouver certainly has a lot of culture diversity and a lot of asian people live in Vancouver and surrounding areas not including freinds, family and business colleagues that visit.
As a result sushi is readily available throughout the city. Being from the east coast of Canada we don't eat a lot of sushi, but raw fish is better than I expected.
I still have to acquire a little more of a taste for it before I could really fill my self up on it.

Visit Vancouver island where Butchart Garden and Craigduroch caslte are located. In the evening the capitol buildings of Victoria on the harbor were lit up (outlined). I don't know if the do this all year or if we just happened to be there at the right time of year, but it was very pretty.
