ALASKA CRUISE FROM RICHMOND

by dakshu

Please let me know about Alaska Cruise 7 day package starting anywhere between 7th to 14th August from RICHMOND

Re: ALASKA CRUISE FROM RICHMOND

by Donna_in_India

Your choice of itinerary, cruiseline, and cabins will probably be very limited since Alaska is a very popular cruise destination with cruises being booked months to a year+ in advance.

Check www.vacationstogo.com for availability. Click on Find a Bargain, not 90 Day Ticker. A reputable cruise agency is cruises.com - although there are others. Air booked within 2 weeks of travel is going to be expensive, so try to have that booked by this Friday!! Good luck.

The only 7 day cruises that leave form Richmond start with an air plane to Anchorage and then a 7 day Southbound Cruise.

Travel Tips for Vancouver

10 Tips for Vancouver, BC & the general area

by TheTravelSlut

The Travel Slut tips for Vancouver

1) At the Vancouver Airport (YVR) the luggage carts are free so be sure to get one
before proceeding to Customs & Immigration
2) If you have to stand in a line for Immigration, check to see if any of the the booths
have two officers. Those lines move much faster than booths occupied by just one
officer.
3) Taxi's are available right outside the baggage area and it is about $30 to the
downtown area. (The inexpensive transit bus stops running in late evening).
4) The Comfort Inn Downtown is a nice boutique-style hotel and I received a corner
room with views, a jacuzzi tub, a fireplace and complimentary paper & breakfast
in the the attached Irish Pub called Doolin's which served as a restaurant plus pub
& grill for lunch, dinner and awesome drinks. My waitress, Carey, was great and
when she delivered a tray of red-colored drinks to a table of guys watching the
NHL Hockey playoffs, I asked her what the drinks were and she said they were
"Red-Headed Sluts". I immediately ordered one and found it to my liking.
5) LandSea Tours, Ltd. is a great company for local sightseeing & tours.
6) If you take the 1st class, domed train to Whistler, request seats 1, 3, or 4 as they
provide the largest, unobstructed viewing windows. The domed car also has an
open-air observation car so you can enjoy the views outdoors
7) Consider taking the train northbound to Whistler and a tour bus back to Vancouver
as you will see different things along both routes.
8) Don't forget to do the tree-canopy walk above the forest floor at the Capilano
Suspension Bridge park.
9) Try to see how many different sculpted bear statues you can find in downtown
Vancouver. Each is unique and quirky.
10) Be sure to keep all of your hotel receipts and shopping receipts so that you can
redeem them for a tax refund before leaving Canada. I used the Sears store
downtown for my refund which you can get in Canadian cash or applied back to
your credit card. I can't pinpoint a specific best memory other than "getting to the other side" of the Capilano Suspension Bridge. That made me a little nervous, but excited at the same time. A definite must see and do in the Vancouver area.

Cool night, up in the sky...

by canadacutey

www.vancouver-bc.com As the title states, this is a favorite past time of mine. When the clouds have rolled on by, and the smell of the mountain air hits your senses, you are close to heaven.I am talking about the local ski hills overlooking the beautiful Vancouver skyline. All the local hills offer night skiing, which range in price from $29-$45, for day/night passes. The 3 mountians are: Grouse/Cypress/Seymour mountains.Get up and enjoy the snow.

Vancouver Tip

by Lambrecht

I was in Vancouver with a Korean girl. We wanted someone to make a picture of us. It was already dark. So I search for a streetlight. I tried to ask a middleaged lady on the sidewalk, but she said: 'Get out of my face!'. That was a great shock after three weeks holiday in the most friendly country of the world. Someone that walked behind this lady, and who saw the whole scene immediately offered to take this picture

The Skyline

by duanestorey

Vancouver has one of the prettiest skylines in all of the cities I've been to. While it's amazing by day, I really love viewing it from Kits beach at night. Sitting on a bench on Kits beach, looking at Vancouver all lit up, and eating a donair with my friend Bob.

Burrard Bridge

by mht_in_la

The photo shows Burrard Bridge as seen from Sunset Beach. Burrard Bridge is not discussed much on VT pages or guide books. Perhaps it's deemed no more than its function. But I liked its simple and solid form. It's low key compared with Vancouver's other bridges.
