Vancouver

I have been to Vancouver before but I am looking for a inexpensive hostel to stay. Can someone let me know where there is a good hostel in the heart of it all? Last time I went I stayed with a friend in Langley and found it was a bit of a hassel to do some really good sight seeing..

Thanks everyone.

You should take a look at the following three Hostels located on Granville Street. They are both centrally located for most activities. They have very high ratings. HI-Vancouver Central, gets very good reviews, directly across the street is the SamSun Backpacker Lodge, great reviews for this hostel also. There is also a HI-Downtown Hostel located in Davey Village, the gay area of Vancouver, in the West End, very close to the beach this also gets very good ratings. Be aware that the Cambie Hostel is located very close to the drug area of Vancouver, so guess if your into that scene this would be an ok place, but suggest you could do much better elsewhere. Good luck with your adventure.

Phil, the Cambie hostel moved to Seymour and Pender, killer location now. Close and quiet, like the one on Burnaby St.

Camaroon, welcome to VT. What is Fresh Start?

Thanks Dave for the update regarding the Cambie, guess all the courier boys have had to find another spot for their drinking.

LOL, no I'm sure they still drink at the Cambie Pub, it is till at the corner, well it was the last time I looked

Re: Vancouver

Ok, yes have seen the Cambie Hostel on Seymour at Pender, personally I think the two on Granville are probably nicer, especially the HI as it was competely remodeled when it was the Royal, or after it was the Royal.

That was one of the last old style beer parlours, I remember now, great location, haven't been on Granville much lately.

Travel Tips for Vancouver

It's worth getting a window seat!

by Jefie

If you're flying westbound to Vancouver and have never flown over the Rockies before, make sure to get a window seat on the plane! On a clear day, the scenery can be quite breathtaking and it's likely to be something you'll never forget.

Visit Stanley Park, sea wall walk and Vancouver Aquarium. An in-expensive way to enjoy a day taking in breath taking scenery and fresh air.The best time to do the sea walk is when the tide is out. Exploring sea life on the beach when the tide is low.

As well as being one of Vancouvers free attractions it is also a great spot to have a picnic. There are picnic tables right by the bridge, but further around to the right are more tables and it is a nicer spot amongst the trees.

Vancouver Tip

by Minnow

Getting to see Salé & Pelletier win their first World Championship titles was one of the most amazing things I experienced in Vancouver. The emotion in the arena as the largely Canadian crowd sang Oh Canada along with Jamie and David on the podium was overwhelming, and for a few brief moments I almost wished I were Canadian ;)
