    The Sandman Hotel was a very enjoyable relaxing places to stay after a fortnight crossing Canada - however, of all the places we stayed, it was the only place we had any hassle booking in ....... and it was the one place we were not expecting it to happen due to the cost!!

    We turned up to find our booking had been entered into their system wrongly, which meant having to re-book.

    However, after finding out it was the last place we were staying on our Honeymoon, they upgraded us to a much bigger room - for the same price! Nice one!!!

    The room was beautiful! Massive king size bed, sofa, Ok view, and a very very large TV!!!

    The Sandman hotel is only a 5 minute taxi ride from Pacific Central Station, and only a 5 - 10 minute walk from the very centre of Downtown.

    We stayed at the sandmand hotel for 4 nights at a total of $654.30. Not the cheapest of places, but we thought we deserved some luxury - it was a honeymoon afterall!!!

    There were a few things that struck me about this hotel:

    1) Security - everything required a swipe card. You even had to swipe your room card in the elevator to prove you had a room before the elevator would move. I liked this!

    2) Pool and Hot tub - Very relaxing. Pool was quite cool and the hot tub was very hot! We used the pool and hot tub every night. Its free to guests, and also requires a swipe of your room key before you are allowed to enter.

    • The room was very comfortable it was close to the centre of Vancouver.
    The swimming pool fitness area was being renovated so that must be finished by now.
    Building work was going on when I was there so no swimming for me.
    Bed was comfy room was clean, close to town.
    Plenty of room.

    I walked everywhere around Vancouver and was happy with the location its not far from Chinatown. Five no more than ten minutes walk to Gas Street.
    I watched the fireworks at Canada Place on Canada Day and walked back to the hotel in minutes. Its walk or take a taxi! Its not far.
    I never used public transport when in Vancouver.

    • We stayed for 4 nights at the Sandman Downtown. It is an extremely central hotel and it is very well kept. Staff were very helpful and there is a multitude of dining options right on the hotel property. There are 2 restaurants and 1 bar/lounge. For the sports fanatics, you are right up the road from the stadium and for the shopping fanatics, you are down the road and over one street from Robson St. which is a major shopping area in downtown Vancouver.

    The Sandman Hotel is the launching pad for many tour groups from Vancouver including the tour I did.

    The Sandman has decent rooms and a great bar downstairs which rocks on Fridays and Saturdays. The fact they didn't pump it up on a Wednesday night when all was quiet except for our tour group did not destroy the night.

    Location next to the Stadiums was perfect.

    The pool and spa on the 4th floor were a great diversion to relax in. It's other peoples loss that they did not feel the urge to take advantage of these amenities.

    The lifts are unfortunately a downfall of the building. There are insufficient lifts for such a busy short stay hotel. With so many overnight stays and tour groups it means there are always people checking in and out increasing the traffic flow.

    Nothign fancy and a little out of the way unless you are attending an event at BC Place nonetheless, this was a decent if not outstanding hotel.
