Great boutique hotel in the heart of Vancouver

The St Regis is a wonderful gem in the core of Vancouver where one can easily enjoy the sidewalk cafes, check out the waterfront, hop on the Skytrain and check out the shops/malls of the city center, all with ease. If you arrive by air, don't bother getting a taxi. A straight shot by train will drop you off a block from the hotel. How easy is that?
Inside the amenities are great. The facility is clean, the style chic, the service impeccable. We have nothing but praises for the St Regis.

Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon in May 2009. It was recommended by our travel agent. We really enjoyed our stay here. It was the perfect start for our honeymoon. We spent 4 nights here before heading out on an Alaskan cruise. The hotel was recently totally renovated and it looks great! There is some history behind it - its been built for years - but I can't remember much about that. It is located on a corner, and the room we had was a corner room too so we had plenty of light and views from all angles. We had about 4 windows! The bed was lovely and comfortable as was the bathroom with a nice big shower and an extra special touch which i loved - underfloor heating!! Felt so nice under your toes!!! :)

There wasn't a great selection of food - your usual cereal, toast, etc. You could also have a warm breakfast like bacon, eggs and sausages. The waiter would bring this to you nice and fresh.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. On our last day our toilet got blocked and they sent someone up to fix it right away - so they were very efficient too.

Location was great and within walking distance of the main attractions. It was also great for us to get to the cruise terminal when we had to leave. If you don't mind walking about 5/10 mins dragging your suitcases then its great. We thought it made more sense then getting a taxi for a few metres.

Overall we had a great stay and would recommend it to anyone - especially a nice romantic getaway that doesn't cost a bomb!

Disappointing accommodation

We had a reservation for 2 nights and we arrived mid afternoon and registered. When we went to our room the room began to vibrate and we looked out the back window to see if we were on a train line. We weren't but we soon realised that our room was next to the lift and was the noisiest that we had ever encountered. We immediately notified reception of our concern and requested a move thinking it would not be a problem as we knew the hotel wasn't full. We were wrong. It appears that is not there policy and we requested to speak to the manager whose name was "Suni". He point blank refused even though we indicated that we didn't believe anybody could sleep under those conditions but to no avail. The lift was going all night and needless to say we were correct in predicting the lack of sleep.

great surprise!

the exterior of this hotel really does not do justice to it. the lobby is just a small counter with 1 staff most of the time. the only lift is really small and slow. but once u enter ur room, u will be surprised by its design and space. ours was either a twin or a double room i'm not sure. there were 2 double beds and 2 television sets! and the nice thing is the beds were not arranged in the traditional side by side arrangement. instead, the room was separated into 2 sections and the arrangements were such that the one room was actually 2 rooms just without the divider. so loads of space and just the right amount of privacy from ur room mate!

breakfast was provided but it was just some muffins, croissants and toast. breakfast was served in a tiny room thats resembles a living room of a studio aprtment.

overall a great experience.

More about St. Regis Hotel

Central Location, no frills hotel

by TripAdvisor Member Scotslass75

Booked hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews. Very central location in a pretty safe area of the city. Room was basic but it was reasonably clean. Air conditioning in our room was noisy and had a weird smell. Complimentary breakfast was adequate, as long as you like muffins and pastries. Tim Hortons is probably your best bet which is across the road. If you're not wanting to spend alot on a hotel but want to be within walking distance of amenities this one will suit.

Mouse in the House

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the hotel on October 10, 2005. We thought the hotel was fine, a little odd smelling but otherwise o.k. until we noticed there was another guest staying in the room with us. We were disgusted, packed our bags and immediately went to check out. Almost more disturbing than having a mouse in our room, was the reaction of the front desk clerk. When my husband told him why we were checking out, the clerk had no reaction, he didn't seem at all surprised and did nothing to try to rectify the situation. We ended up at The Best Western Granville which was not too far, was only $30 more, and was quite nice.

excellent value

St Regis on Granville and Seymour, best value hotel we have ever stayed in, room ready on arrival, elevator working, the room we had was a triple and had more than enough space for us, all the things in the room were clean and worked, the maid service was brilliant and the complimentary breakfast, muffins, croissant, butter, jam, oat ceral, plain yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, coffee, tea, chocolate, milk was an excellent suprise. The hotel is within easy reach of the skytrain and all easy travel links, would stay again without any hesitation. stayed april/may 06

A Pleasant Surprise

by A TripAdvisor Member

We arrived early in the day, well before check-in time of 2 pm. The staff immediately offered to store our luggage and said the room would be ready in an hour - which it was. We were given a large room with 2 queen-sized beds, 2 (!) televisions and a small fridge. Everywhere was scrupulously clean and bathrobes were provided - which was a nice touch. Breakfast is included in the price and despite the breakfast room being crowded some mornings - the actual continental breakfast was more than adequate. A free daily paper was also available. Location wise the hotel could not be more central. The down side to that is that it is just on the edge of a seedy area best avoided after dark. We had booked 7 nights in the St. Regis and we were hoping that we had made a sensible choice. We couldn't have been more pleased. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a small, friendly establishment with staff that are prepared to go the extra mile for their guests.

Excellent value

by A TripAdvisor Member

Having chosen this 'budget' hotel for it's location we were pleasantly surprised with what it offered. The breakfast was way better than anticipated (the fruit salad in particular), all rooms and communal spaces clean and a superb bar run by fantastic people. You can always be a bit picky and find a fault with the air conditioning but on balance this hotel offers excellent value for money. It is very well located in the better end of town and a skytrain station next door.

Couldn't fault the hotel for value

by TripAdvisor Member globalcoachtours

My wife and parents stayed in 2 equally good rooms for 1 night before a cruise. The hotel checked us in quickly and we were lucky to be given "suites" rather than standard rooms which were very clean and spacious. I liked the neutral colour scheme, wi-fi access was complimentary and the location four blocks to the cruise terminal meant that we could easily walk there the next day. They cheerfully stored our luggage whilst we explored Vancouver as we couldn't board the ship until after 2.30pm. The two reception staff on duty were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included - buffet of coffee/tea, juices, yoghurts, muffins and toast. The hotel was full so it was very busy, even so there was plenty of food until the last few minutes of the advertised breakfast time. There's always Starbucks next door or 7-11 and Tim Hortons across the street for late risers.
Great value overall, I would definitely stay there again.

Great hotel

We were supposed to stay in a different hotel but there was a burst pipe so they moved us one. What a nice surprise this hotel was. it was clean and comfortable. I would definetly recommend this hotel. We stayed here prior to a cruise and after the cruise we stayed at the Shetraton hotel for 4 nights. I would definetly pick this hotel over the Sheraton anyday and its a lot cheaper.
