Excellent B & B
I found this place on the web and decided to check it out. It is a great place to stay! Located in North Vancouver, it is in a residential neighborhood located close to the Capilano Suspension Bridge park. The husband and wife team, Rex and Ruth, work well together and provide a great atmosphere. The breakfasts were great (the fruit steeped in liquor was the best) and varied. The room we stayed in, Sweet Tibby's, had a great little nook, good solid bed, and a bath that provided all we needed to have a good time. There are six rooms that host a varied assortment of guests. When we were there, Australians, Canadiens, English, French, and Italien guests were there.
Unique Quality: The whole place is very unique. Rex is a Scottish guru while everthing on the inside is laid out very well. They set us up at restaurants and provided good ideas for things to do but were not pushy about it. Couldn't be beat!

Hospitality with FLAIR
If you are looking for a place to sleep in Vancouver, BC this is not your place! But, if you are looking for a place to love and return to again and again, then visit the Thistle Down House. The owners, Ruth and Rex, along with their two scotty dogs, will make you quite comfortable and will have you feeling as though their home is your home. Thistle Down House is a craftsman style house renovated with six guest rooms of various sizes. Each room is a treat. You will certainly rest comfortably. Then there is breakfast! Ruth is an accomplished chef and she serves up a quality feast to get you ready for the day. You will so enjoy the conversation with Rex around the marvelous food that it will be hard to get to the next event on your schedule for the day. Leave time to linger. Expect to meet other guests from Europe and across North America. Last time we visited there were people from Vienna, Washington, DC, San Diego and Portland, Oregon. Don't miss this rare opportunity next time you visit Vancouver, BC.
ThistleDown House is the "best ever"
Our stay at the ThistleDownHouse was exceptional. Seldom have we felt such a friendly welcome and sincere interest in our needs. All rooms had individual design thought, the garden was delightful, and the eclectic furnishings were just right in all settings. The highlight was the breakfast, unusual and special each morning, and even met our special diet requirements. We recommend this as our "best ever" in North America!
A Fabulous B&B
My husband, myself and my parents had a lovely week at Thistledown and were pampered, wined and dined by the most gracious hosts ever, Ruth and Rex. The breakfasts and afternoon tea were to die for and we eagerly awaited each new day. The rooms were spotless and beautiful. The dogs were so much fun to play with. Ruth and Rex gave us great restaurant and sightseeing information each day, too. We would highly recommended Thistledown.
Staying in an Arts and Crafts house in Vancouver.
A really excellent place to stay on the north shore. An Arts and Crafts house of the 1920's with beautifully furnished bedrooms. The owners are very friendly and superb hosts. The breakfasts were excellent and certainly unusual compared to what you get in mainstream hotels. If you want to stay in a bed and breakfast inn which is different from the norm Thistledown is a good bet.
This is the BEST B&B I have say at in 30 Years
The Best in B&B in North/South American. The Two Oweners are the most careing give peaople I have every come accross. The Beauiful Home and gardens are olny supasted by all the beauty inside from flowers to the best best,best food . Better that mosty resturant . The BEST Bed & Breakfast in North Vancouver
We were planning on taking an Alaskan Cruise, but decided to go early and spend a few days in Vancouver Canada. We like to stay at Bed & Breakfast.
August 14 we arrived at the ThistleDown House in North Vancouver. The rooms were Beautiful, spacious, and Quiet. The hospitality was Exceptional!! The Breakfast was also EXceptional !!!!! We really can't say enough. We like to hike, and their trails were in walking distance. They were just BEAUTIFUL... Breath taking.. Grosse Mountain is up the hill, which was a must to see. We would definitly stay here again..
Thistle Down House Bed and Breakfast
Situated in North Vancouver, Thistle Down House Bed and Breakfast is in a large and beautifully restored Craftsman era house. The atmosphere at Thistle Down House is comfortable and realaxed and at the same time refined and elegant. The hosts Ruth and Rex are most welcoming and helpful with finding places of interest and good places to eat. The breakfasts here are not the usual pancakes and eggs but far more interesting and delicious fare than the run of the mill. Of all the B & B's that I have been to this one stands out as head and shoulders above all the rest......Outstanding!

Clean, smelled good, breakfast was excellent, the staff really seemed to care and took time to make sure your time was spent well.
The home was beautiful!!
