This hotel is located across the street from the Vancouver Library. I would consider this hotel to be on the outer fringes of Robson Street. Although it is only a few blocks from "nicer part" of Robson Street, I did not consider the location to be the nicest and safest.
Rooms are modern and clean, although small. I stayed in a suite and found the bedroom to be small.
Stayed there for two nights back in June, in peak season. We stayed there as a final treat of our honeymoon trip to Canada. It was sold to us a 5 star hotel, but I must say it was a big disappointment. It was devoid of character and the rooms were nothing to dance for. I also found the room service to be not upto scratch. There is also a shortage of elevators / lifts so if you are staying in one of the top floors, you could be waiting for ages before you get a lift.
Having said that, the breakfast was really good. Oh ya, coming at about 275CAD per night, it was also very expensive for what you get

The Westin Grand, Vancouver

We stayed here during the second half of our week in Vancouver in November 2003. Closer to Gastown and Yaletown, it meant that we got to see a slightly different part of the city (we had been at the Listel, down the other end of Robson Street).
This is a good quality hotel, but a little soul-less. The rooms are imacculate, but the studio suites are not really suites at all - just ordinary double rooms with a cupboard which contains a sink, microwave and dishwasher.
We had a nice view from our 32nd floor room, but I'm not sure that it was really worth paying the extra for this. (see our Vancouver page for a photo of the view from this hotel at www.virtualtourist.com/m/625cb/dc80f/).
