More about Ambrosia Historic Bed & Breakfast Retreat

What more can I add??!!! Beyond expectations!!!

by TripAdvisor Member mel&danAlberta

Every wonderful thing that others have said about this bed and breakfast is absolutely true. My husband and I were visiting Victoria for five days celebrating our twentieth anniversary and also our mutual birthdays. We had always thought about trying a b & b rather than an impersonal hotel but weren't sure if it would just feel like we were staying in someone's house. Susan and Gary have created the perfect balance of privacy as well as the comfort of having someone available to help with any and all arrangements (Gary even drove us to the mall one day). They genuinely care that you are as comfortable and happy as possible, there doesn't seem to be anything they wouldn't do for you.
We stayed in the Ambrosia Suite and found a lovely wine and cheese tray in our room when we arrived. The decor is beautifully rich and comfortably elegant. We have never slept in a more comfortable bed, it is huge and beyond cushy with highest quality linens. The room is heated by a gas fireplace and lying in that bed with the flames flickering is heaven. The bathroom is absolutely huge with heated tiles throughout and I made good use of the two person jacuzzi tub. One night we came back and found roses throughout our room and candles surrounding the tub. Our son had also phoned Susan and she was happy to arrange to have wine, cake and chocolates in our room on our birthday.
The breakfasts are the next fantastic part, no plain old bacon and eggs here! Every meal was gourmet and elegantly presented. Gary served us breakfast in our suite on our birthday (talk about feeling spoiled) but we also found we enjoyed breakfast in the lovely dining room meeting the other guests.
There were so many little touches that made our stay special and I know for the price you will never find a hotel with all these amenities. We are thoroughly converted to bed and breakfasts but we are afraid that none will measure up to Ambrosia House. Thank you for everything Susan and Gary!

Attention to all details

Susan and Gary are wonderful hosts and simply take care of every detail imaginable. The gourmet breakfasts the spectacular rain shower and jetted tub the lovely bath robes and slippers and a few salon products fit for a queen (to name a few). My Mom and I loved absolutely everything about Ambrosia. A luxurious place to stay for all occasions.

Ambrosiatic!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at Ambrosia the night before our wedding in Victoria. Our stay was wonderful. We were well-cared for and genuinely welcomed. Our room was lovely, the bedding divine, the location terrific. Given the occasion, Susan took particular care with our arrangements, for which we are very grateful! We highly recommend Ambrosia for a pampered, romantic getaway or for general accommodation in Victoria.

Ambrosia is amazing!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Ambrosia is an amazing bed and breakfast. Every detail was perfect....from the wine and snacks when we arrived to the jetted jacuzzi for two to the heated tile bathroom floors and fluffy bath robes. We felt like royalty. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts, Susan and Gary went above and beyond to make sure that our weekend was romantic and spectacular. The location was also fabulous. We won't stay anywhere else in Victoria!!

It was very peaceful and relaxing, just what we wanted!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Ambrosia for our Honeymoon November 14 - 20, 2004 and all we were expecting was a quiet room we could retreat to. Well we received far more than we every dreamed.

The room was quiet like we requested but it also had a fireplace and a two-person jet tub and a bar fridge. Very relaxing.

Every night we would come home to our room and find a chocolate on each of our pillows and peaceful music playing on the CD player. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect.

Since it is a bed and breakfast breakfast was included. We would be served a 4 course breakfast in the dining room at 9:00am. This was wonderful since it wasn't too early and the meals were incredible.

We would highly recocommend this Bed and Breakfast to everyone planning to stay in Victoria whether for a week a week-end or just for a night to experience the ultimate in service, stlye and relaxation.

A B&B for the modern couple

by A TripAdvisor Member

If you're looking for a B&B experience sans the usual knick knacks and flower arrangements, look no further than the Ambrosia. Modern conveniences such as a to die for jetted tub in the Zen tradition and clean streamlined decor made us feel like we were at the W Hotel. Combine this with a four course delectable breakfast, and you have a very romantic vacation package. In addition, the Ambrosia is conveniently located within walking distance to all that Victoria has to offer. The owners were very personable and made our stay very stress free. We can't wait to return.

The most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in!

by A TripAdvisor Member

And the bed was just the beginning. We spent three days of our honeymoon in late October 2004 at this newly-opened four-room B&B, and across the board the place was impeccable.

We stayed in the spacious Zen Suite, which featured the aforementioned incredibly comfy King-sized featherbed, hardwood floors, a fireplace (perfect for the cooler shoulder season), heated bathroom floor, a deep soaker water jet tub and a separate glass shower with a drencher showerhead. The decor was, of course, Zen inspired. Simple, yet pleasing. And, NO TELEVISION (there is a modest library in the hall). That’s right, there’s not a room with a TV (though the proprietors may install one in the communal sitting area). We didn’t miss it at all.

Then there were the breakfasts. Susan, one on the proprietors, was not only a wonderfully friendly and accommodating host, but also a fine cook. You have the option of either breakfast in your room, or downstairs in the charming dining area (where you share the table with the other guests). The food, served in four, perfectly portioned courses, was nothing short of delicious, from the chocolate-banana muffins, to the shrimp and asparagus crepes, to the white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry puree. Not to mention there were home-baked cookies waiting for us each day in the hall, along with coffee and tea self-service.

Lastly, there’s the location. Ambrosia is just a short stroll from the Inner Harbour, the Royal British Columbia Museum and the Empress Hotel. That is, it’s near many of the main attractions of Victoria. Who could ask for more? (Unless you REALLY need that TV.)

All in all, it was a perfect visit, both romantic and relaxing, and we were sorry to leave. But we will definitely return to enjoy once again all the first-class amenities the Ambrosia has to offer.

Excellent B&B

I enjoyed this stay very much. The host was very nice very informative and kept in touch with us through are whole trip there. We got in late, very late 2 am, and she got up and showed us to our room. We were blown away by the Zen Room it was awesome. King size bed, we got in and was fast asleep no tossing and turning. It was the BEST two nights sleep i have gotten in a LONG time. Also that Tub OMG its so cool i could spend the whole weekend in the tub. The Shower stall was also cool and the heated floors i could have slept on them and stayed warm lol. We enjoyed the sights of Victoria all given to us under the advice of the host. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE STAY WE WILL RETURN! Oh yeah its a 3 1/2 hour drive to the ferries from tacoma wa.

We really had a fantastic visit. The inn was a key part of it. Just the perfect touches to make our mere 24-hour vacation truly rejuvenating!
