Barb's @ Fisherman's Wharf

by Jetgirly

I'm only in town for two more weeks and trying to decide if I should visit Barb's. I've never been, but I've also heard the quality has taken a nosedive since they changed hands (about last September). Can anyone comment? I recently tried Red Fish Blue Fish and it was great- they just opened a kiosk on water level on Wharf, at the bottom of Broughton.

(PS - I make one or two exceptions annually to my "vegetarianism" when the fish and chips cravings become uncontrollable).

Those are difficult cravings to put down. Love good Fish and Chips. I don't know about Barb's or RFBF but, I have heard Spinnakers is still great

It's fun to take the little ferry over to Barbs and enjoy the scenery and the boathouses and share your fish and chips with the seagulls. But I did find the batter a little heavy on grease for me last time I was there.

Travel Tips for Victoria

See an Arbutus Tree! The West...

by Vanislander

See an Arbutus Tree! The West Coast of NorthAmerica is the only or one of the only places in the world these grow. They like to be close to the Ocean, as the salt helps sustain them, and do not like alot of soil, so they are usually on the side of Mountains.

Go to Victoria Gardens. It is gorgeous! It is so good to get out into God's beautiful creation and really experience the beauty only He can create and give life to. Take lots of pictures, the colors there are brilliant and plentiful. I still remember the bus tour commentator. She helped us Americans remember how to calculate fahrenheit into celcius. 30 is hot, 20 is nice, 10 is cool, and 0 is ice.

Two little MaltiPoos, side by side at the window, waiting for their Mommy. They will sit like this for hours at a time.

It is hard to leave them behind when we travel. Even more difficult to find reliable house/animal sitters.

Click the pic. Next comes the Goose family. You are invited to join us for the ongoing visit of the Geese who have decided to raise their young under our protection.

I'll take you on a little tour of our version of living in the forest.

Life is tough, isn't it?

Don't Spend US Currency At Stores

by 2snoopy

Plan well and pickup Canadian currency in advance of your trip. Just about everyone will accept US currency, but I think you are shorted in the long run. It seems like everyone has a different exchange rate, so there is definitely a profit in the stores favor.

Victoria is the capital city...

by Carmanah

Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia, the only Canadian province on the Pacific coast. For this reason, the BC Parliament Building is located here. The Parliament Building is where the BC Premier and the legislative assembly come to meet throughout the year.
