We had a nice overnight here in Victoria. This hotel is very convenient to the ferry terminal and easily accessible to the downtown areas. There were no over the top amenities, just a nice, clean room.

Fisherman's Wharf was unlike anything I'd ever seen before! It basically is a floating fishermen village, where streets have been replaced with piers and where seals are the most common house pets! Visitors are welcome to walk up and down the streets/piers and stop at one of the two restaurants: Barb's Place, renowned to serve Victoria's best fish & chips, and Grilligan's. You can also buy fresh fish and seafood at the fish shop, which also sells herring that visitors can buy to feed the neighborhood's seals.

Victoria's best budget lunch buffet is at Sabri Indian Cuisine, in Burnside Plaza. Not very close to the city center, it is located near Tillicum Mall (Silver City movie theatre). I recently visited Sabri for lunch, and was happy to find that the All-You-Can-Eat lunch buffet was only $5.95! Items on the buffet included a variety of chicken dishes, lots of vegetable dishes, several curries, pakoras, daal, naan and an assortment of sauces. We had mango lassi's with our lunches ($2.50 each). The food was all tasty and well-seasoned, but typical of buffet food it could have been fresher. I suggest arriving right at noon when the buffet opens, you get get the food fresh from the kitchen. We arrived around 12.30 and the restaurant was fairly quiet, but by the time we left it was about three-quarters full.
For people on a budget and/or people who love getting a good deal, Sabri is a great choice. They also serve a slightly-more-expensive dinner buffet, and you can also order individual items a la carte.
We stayed at the Best Western Inner Harbour with two friends in May 2006 for two nights. As the hotel is a standard Best Western city hotel, the location is just great. Only a two minute walk brings you to the Parliament Building and the Inner Harbour. Hotel surroundings are okay, there are some more hotels and motels in Quebec Street. Our rooms were spacious with two queens and there was a small kitchenette as well. Continental Breakfast was included and we had the choice between the classical items like bagels, toast, cereals, muffins, pastry and more. The outdoor pool looked nice, but is situated in a very small garden, pool surroundings could have been better. To sum up, the hotel can be recommended for the more value-orientated traveller who does not want to pay the horrible rates at "The Empress", but nevertheless wants to be close to the Inner Harbour area.

The situation of this hotel could not be bettered being within a few minutes walk of the Inner Harbour and the principal shopping district, as well as many of the well known tourist sites. Efficient and friendly reception staff, ample car parking facilities, and a good size well-equipped bedroom . All this at a fair price, including the complimentary continental breakfast, makes it an excellent value for money hotel in an ideal position.
Loved this hotel. We vist from Australia frequently and have stayed in many hotels in Victoria over the past 12 years. This has got to be one of the most pleasant hotels in town. The position is excellent, walking distance to the Inner Harbour, downtown area and excellent restaurants nearby. Great view from our 7th floor room of the Harbour. The view is especially glamorous at night.Very helpful and cheerful staff. Free broadband internet connection in our room. Delicious breakfast each morning in a pleasant breakfast room. Very good standard of room and bed. Free undercover parking. Try the Royal Scot restaurant across the street for a pleasant lunch. All in all a very pleasant stay!
The location is great. Very close to the harbour and many attractions. I was a little disappointed that my room with a kitchette charged extra to use the pots, pans, and plates for the room. (5 or 10 / day!) We also had trouble with the tub and they moved us after 3 hours of fighting with it. However, we didn't get upgraded to a better room for the trouble. (Maybe they don't do that anymore?) The staff was super friendly and very helpful with directions to various sites and activities. There is also a very busy but good grocery store within walking distance.
If you want a good, clean, well positioned hotel at a fair price then you'd be hard pressed to find better.
Polite and helpful staff, good clean rooms an a mere 2min stroll to the Inner Harbour.
I'd happily use it again.
