A Good Hotel

Two friends and myself stayed in the Harbour Towers for two nights in 2009. The service was good, the accommodations excellent.
We stayed in a one bedroom suite. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and the sofa has a pull out bed.
There is a coffee service in the room and extra dishes if you wish to bring food in.

Underground parking is a good feature.

Unique Quality: I think the view if the most outstanding feature of this accommodation and also the location.
Public transit is close by and the inner harbour right there for great walks.
The legislative buildings are within walking distance.
In summer not far away there are buskers, and other street entertainment.

Harbor Towers; Good Location

My mother and I are currently finishing up our last night at the Hotel. We will have stayed here a total of four nights. It is a very conveniently located hotel tucked about two blocks off the main street. We're staying in a regular two person/two queen bed room, which has a half balcony and a great view of the harbor (has to be requested). There are some rooms which have full size balconies. Beds are soft, pillows are too large for my taste, but rooms are clean and cleaning service is very prompt.

Cons: Shower water can be unpredicatble, as my mother and i got burned a few times. Half balcony is not advised for the height wary. You can hear a lot of noise from the hallway, and when in your bathroom, can hear neighbors bathrooms. Everything else quiet. 'Park at your own risk' is advertised, as well as car thefts are frequent in Victoria. I do not like this because the car lots are video taped and you pay to park, and i feel there should be a guard on property.

Over all would stay here again, and request a full balcony room on a lower floor. \

[I'm a vegetarian]
The only restaurant close that I happened to like was the James Bay Bed and Breakfast. We ate at Santiago's, Harbor Towers Restaurant Vic's, and Huntingdon Manor all for breakfast. Out of the three Harbor Towers was the best, both Huntingdon (I heard nothing but sorry's from the waitress' mouth here) and Santiagos had bad service and worse food [I had french toast or waffles]. Another bad restaurant in the downtown area was Earl's who advertises a brick oven pizza, which is actually a reheated frozen brick oven pizza for 11 bucks.

Restaurants we enjoyed: Garricks Head Pub (great hand made veggie burgers), and my mother had the halibut which she said was light and flaky, not greasy. Periklis the greek restaurant which has the best vegetarian plate. Slightly expensive but does not lack in food, food quality or service. Very relaxing and easy going restaurant. Luciano's had good Italian food, very very expensive (80 bucks for two people). Service was extra slow, made up for good food.

Ate at Spaghetti Factory, just like all the others, decent food, poor service.

Unique Quality: Provides mini fridge, microwave, teapot /coffe pot, place settings and silverware.

Conseriege made reservations for us upon request, was very prompt.

Easy to walk down to harbor, around to Empress Hotel and Parliament Building. The ferry lands right near the hotel and streets are easy to navigate.

Older hotel near the leg.

I can't comment on the suites because I have only ever used the standard rooms in this hotel. The hotel is older and could probably use a reno, but it is clean and comfortable. Standard amenities in the room, including internet access.

The last time I was at this hotel was because I was at a conference in the hotel. It was in November in a blizzard and the conference room was long, uncomfortable and cold, with no windows, so not the greatest experience.

Unique Quality: There is a nice pool, whirlpool and dry sauna, as well as a gym.

More about Harbour Towers Hotel & Suites

Great property

by TripAdvisor Member heads_up

This is a great property. It's clean, quiet, well maintained and the employees are excellent. It's within easy walking distance of the City's inner harbour area attractions, restaurants and shopping. Also, if you're arriving on Helijet it’s a brief shuttle drive or modest walk from the helipad.

Wonderful place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member texasproud

We just loved the Harbour Towers. The location was terrific - an easy walk to everything. We had a two-bedroom suite and it was WONDERFUL. Be sure to get a harbour-view room, it's well worth it (only 10CAD). We had two balconies overlooking the harbour and every room had a great view. I even liked looking out the smaller dining room window straight at the parliament when it's all lit up at night. Rooms were good-size and the full living room, kitchen and dining area was great. This was one of the rooms we've stayed in where the room and location itself were incredibly enjoyable. I would highly recommend this to anyone going to Victoria.

Not Bad, But Not Great

by A TripAdvisor Member

We rented two, two-bedroom suites for one night. When we arrived at the hotel are rooms were ready early. The front desk was not helpful with questions about bus schedules and getting back to the ferry dock in sydney. The van they have for a shuttle could not fit our whole party so we walked everywhere, plus they made it sound like they did not want us to use it, kind of rude. I had to try three floors before I could find an Ice machine that worked. The bathtubs in both units were clogged up and drained slow. This is a two bedroom unit, yet there were only enough for two cups of coffee left for the guests. The view was great, except for the huge crane and the construction outside of the window. The location was good, not too much walking to get to the heart of the city. I think I'll try someplace else next time.

Great location, clean hotel!

by TripAdvisor Member 01phineas

While the hotel isn't one of the more attractive buildings in Victoria, the saying is true that you can't judge a book by its cover. I couldn't get over how clean everything was, from the lobby to our room to the pool area to the huge fitness center. Immaculate!
My family and I stayed in a standard room in this 100% non-smoking hotel, on the harbor side. Although we didn't have a view of the harbor, our balcony afforded us a view of Parliament (very pretty lit up at night!) and the inner harbor area.
Our room came with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, tea kettle, dishes, flatware, and dish soap. The bathroom had a full complement of toiletries and nice, medium-weight towels. The water pressure was good, and the hot water was instant and consistent.
The front desk staff wasn't the friendliest I've met, but they were efficient. We used the hotel's shuttle once, after a long day of walking, to go to dinner. The bellman was quite friendly and accomodating.
The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the downtown area, and about 10 minutes in another direction to a grocery store and a Starbuck's. It is a very short stroll to the ferry terminal to/from Port Angeles. The property is at the foot of a quiet residential area that felt very safe for walking at night.
The pool was a bit on the small side, but just right for my children to enjoy. There is also a whirpool and dry sauna. The hotel's fitness center is huge -- 1,200 square feet, with a windowed room where children can play or watch t.v. while their parents work out.
The hotel is pet friendly, with two floors for those bringing their dog (we were considering bringing ours). It has a restaurant, which looked nice, but at which we did not eat.
Because of its cleanliness, great location, and good value, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Harbour Towers Hotel & Suites again.

Fantastic!

by TripAdvisor Member littlehen

Everything about this hotel is fantastic. It is located within walking distance to downtown, all the sites, the carriage rides and the view of the harbour is breathtaking. the food in the restaurant/lounge is world class. i stayed there for 12 days while my father in law underwent major surgery at the nearby hospital and ate just about everything on the menu. It is all good!!! the service is absolutely exceptional-from the front desk (i had to keep extending my stay and they went out of their way to try and keep me in the same room), to room service, to the servers (elvis, joni, dominic) in the lounge i was always delighted with the professionalism and quality of service. they remember who you are and why you are there-they go out of their way to make your stay with the harbour towers special. The rates for the rooms at this time of year are unbeatable 69.99 for a standard room harbourview-this is unheard of in victoria for a location like this. my room was cleaned perfectly everyday and she even gave me extra coffee because she noticed i drank both the regular and decaf. there is not one bad thing i could say about this hotel and i am a very picky traveller. thank you harbour towers for making a very difficult time a little bit easier.

Great Value!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We chose to stay here for three nights because of the gret deal they had on their website. We wanted to treat ourselves for a change and decided to book a penthouse suit on the top level, which cost a very good $250CAD pn.

The room was set on three levels with two bathrooms, two tv's and a jacuzzi tub. We were very happy with the kitchen, as it allowed us to eat in when we wanted.

The location of the hotel was fine, being only a 5 minute walk from the main shopping/eating district. It was quiet, clean and the staff were polite and informative. We took our two year old daughter, who enjoyed her stay as much as we did!.

One thing that did frustrate us was the slowness of the lifts, a minor downside to good hotel.

Good Value

by TripAdvisor Member chap4

We stayed for two nights in a room overlooking the inner harbor (11th floor). Our room was large and very clean. Apparently the suites are enormous. The hotel is fine although plain, with a great location, and a very good value. We paid $119 Cdn in May for a room with a spectacular view. (Without view, $89.) Because of the price we were a little concerned about booking it, but trip advisor reviews were positive and we agree.
