A REALLY SPECIAL stay....

Ive stayed here a few times...while visiting and not really caring much about budget...

The SERVICE here is phenomenal...the views spectacular situated right at the tip of the entrance to the Inner Harbor...to wake in the morning, throwing open the curtains...and watching the monstrous Coho ferry sliding by seemingly right outside your window...and all sorts of other harbor activity...This is MY personal CHOICE of accommodation when I'm not staying with friends...sorry I have no photos..

The hotel is modern, clean, and provides really easy access to all of the activities ad sights around the Inner Harbor and downtown...

Unique Quality: The suites that front the Strait have large glass enclosed balconies or decks that enable you to see the wonderful scenery that's there to see...

I really cant say enough good things about this hotel...

Great Stay In Studio Suite

A few years ago in January, we booked a weekend at the Laurel Point Inn in Victoria, BC. We stayed in a studio suite in the newer wing of the hotel. It was a Japanese style room that overlooked the Japanese garden. We opted for the Breakfast Is Served package.

Although, the hotel may seem outdated compared to some of the major chains, and the service was not 5-star all the time, I did enjoy the quietness and comfortness. We basically had the new wing to ourselves, so it was quiet and private.

The location was just out of the harbour and we enjoyed walking along the waterfront to the downtown harbour area daily to visit attractions.

Excellent Hotel!

Besides being a great hotel with an incredible view, we were delighted when we got there and found that we had been upgraded to an executive one-bedroom suite for no reason!

Unique Quality: We loved the view from our balcony of the harbor. We watched seaplanes land and take off, ferries arrive and leave, beautiful sunsets. We liked it so much we spent most meals eating room service on the balcony!

Room with a view

Standard rooms overlooking the Inner Harbor, some with obstructed views. Nice park and walkway between harbor and hotel. Good location, very close to Victoria's main attractions but away from the crowds.

Options in Vic

by devmicha about Hotels In Vic

Once upon a time Victoria was a fairly inexpensive place to live and visit. Recently, however, EVERYTING has become more expensive. If you live here on a single income you are pretty much forced to rent with room mate unless you happened to have bought your house years and years ago...
As for short stays... A few years ago Traveller's Inn and Travelodge would offer rooms at $29/night which was an amazing deal. These days the least expensive you will get for a small room is $49/ night. This does het you a 3* room with own bathroom , TV and Coffee Pot.
If You are looking for something a little Less Try Ocean Island Bacpacker's Inn. It is not the cheapest in the world but has many options such as dormitory or privare room. You can also rent by the month.
There is a Hostelling International youth Hostel which I believe has rooms for $17/night and A Turtle refuge Hostel.

If you have a little more money to Burn Victoria has MANY Hotel options for between $100-$400/night.
The Empress is the Oldest Hotel in Victoria. The rooms are small but it is worth it for the View and the History. This building id beautiful and the Centerpiece of most of our Postcards.
Thr Bedford Regency and the Best Western also Occupy "Character Buildings" But have more modern rooms.

Moving away from History We have the Laurel point Inn and Spa. One plce that is beautiful and New with a great view. The only new building I have ever wanted to try and stay in. It is quite expensive However.
The Harbour Toweres is close to everything (including many more hotels) And The Days Inn on Dallas Road has the very best View in Town!!
There is also The Ocean Point Resort By Delta Hotels andThe Requisite Holiday Inn.
All of these can be foun DownTown (or close to) and are in The Yellowpages. I would be happy to mail any Phone #'s ar emaild from these hotels to you.
Have a great Stay!!!

Fabulous Honeymoon

by A TripAdvisor Member

We spent 3 nights of our Honeymoon in February at the Laurel Point Inn and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the location, room, staff, etc. were. We defintely would stay there again! We were able to walk all over the downtown area and enjoy the local sights and restaurants. We had a harbour view and enjoyed it greatly!

Fabulous view but disappointing service

by A TripAdvisor Member

Stayed at the Laurel Point Inn in April 2005. We liked the fabulous view, location, Heather Macleod in the lounge and towel warmers in the bathroom, but disappointed that even though we booked weeks in advance to ensure we had a room in the South wing we were issued a room in the older north wing. We booked via Entertainment book and paid a whopping $180 per night considering that others were paying $129 or less per night for a similar room. To add to our disappointment we had to wait two hours for our room to be ready; sent away to return later. When we returned it was still not ready but we were offered a $50 food credit for our inconvenience. Despite the beautiful view, we would choose to stay somewhere else next time.

What is a nice hotel to stay in Victoria?

by Natalia_NZ

What is a nice hotel to stay in downtown Victoria for between $120-170 per night. I have looked at the Victoria Mariott Inner Harbour, the Laurel Point Inn, Delta Hotel. Are there any others that are on the water, or that anyone's stayed in & reccommend?

Thank you!

We stayed at the Ocean Pointe Resort, it's a Delta Hotel. You have to cross the blue Johnson St. bridge to get there but it's really quite close for walking. We thought it was a unique setting to be so close to everything and yet be across the harbour from all the major sights. So we had an incredible view of the parliament building and the Empress hotel. My only *** was that they didn't have a high quality coffee vendor in the hotel. When I mentioned that at the desk, they said "oh we've been hearing that a lot", so hopefully they've addressed that. Fabulous tennis, racquet courts, gym, pool.
Very nice experience.

I would choose either the Delta or the Laurel Point above the Mariott. The Mariott is close to the water but not right on the water, thus lacking the scenic walking paths of the other two. Plus, there is construction going on right next to the Marriot and the noise could be irritating. I had my high school graduation ceremony at the Laurel Point... it's nice because the ocean-side rooms have staggered decks that allow for really great views, but I can't speak for any of the other amenities. I love the Boardwalk restaurant in the Delta and have always been a fan of the walk along Songhees (the area in front of the hotel running from the blue bridge along to the marina), but for safety reasons I wouldn't want to walk across the bridge after about 9:30 or 10:00 pm (take a taxi instead).

Definitly Delta Ocean Point first and Laurel Point second would be my recommendations. Depending on when you are coming the Delta does some really interesting xmas stuff and during the summer has an outdoor movie theater (free) set up outside 2 nights a week. Another option (although I don't know how expensive it is) Is the Grand Pacific. Also on the water and right downtown and a beautiful hotel.
