Great staff, location, very clean, cheap, there's a work-for-stay program if you're strapped. The bedrooms are small, but if you're like me, you won't want to spend much time cooped in a room. There's free storage for customers, internet access, t.v. room, laundry. The prices here are fair. I like how this place is like Victoria central, you can really start from here and it's a good way to experience the city. Good full kitchen, a lounge with entertainment. Most of the guests seem really happy (with the exception of one very angry old man) There's always something to do here and it feels very welcoming. If you're backpacking in victoria, check this place out.
We stayed for 3 nights and this was the most fantastic experience of my existence. Period. Friendly staff, awesome guests, good vibes, stationed in an awesome part of downtown Victoria, near public transit, all at a reasonable price.
Unique Quality: Well, for starters there's a bar. Need I say more? Okay, well how about laundry, food, work-for-free-stay programs, internet, a safe environment, colorful personalities, a coffee and muffin for $2.50. That's a meal, travelers. Whoo-hooo!
Directions: Corner of Pandora and Blanchard. Bus stops at Pandora and Douglass. It's a one block walk from there.
I stayed in the Hostel this past weekend and it was close to all the sites and provided all major amenities. I stayed in a 6 person female dorm for $18.00 Canadian a night. The place was very clean, colorful, and friendly. There is a kitchen, dining room, and lounge that serves drinks in the evening. Sheets and lockers were included but bring your own towell and lock. Close by is a great market for food items and plenty of cafes and restaurants.
Unique Quality: The Lounge often has local entertainment in the evenings. On St. Patricks Day they had a folk band and dancers perform. Some nights are open mic and the travellers gather to perform their many talents. Everyone was really nice and I was instantly invited to make dinner with other roommates downstairs and join them in the lounge.
The Hostel also has a WORK FOR STAY program for people who are in need of funds. You work 3 hours helping maintain the Hostel and recieve free stay and Dollars for purchase items in the Hostel.
This place was really lively and a culture in itself
